Pevely, MO (August 5, 2006) Brian Shirley of Chatham, IL claimed his third UMP Late Model victory of the season at I-55 Raceway. Shirley took the lead on the opening lap of the main event from his outside front row starting position and held off the early challenges of Mark Oller and went on to victory. Oller, of Highland, IL appeared poised to earn his first win of the season as he won his qualifying heat and then came back and won the dash by passing Shirley for the top spot to earn that win. But Shirley made the right setup changes to his car before the main event and earned his third win in the last four main events at I-55 Raceway. Matt Taylor followed Oller across the line for the third position, Jeff Johns took the fourth spot and Kyle Steffens completed the top five. The track championship point battle took an interesting turn as Ed Dixon, who was second in points at the start of the night, suffered an engine failure in his qualifying heat. Point leader Brian Collins loaned Dixon his spare car for the main event, but Dixon came out at intermission to hotlap the car and it suffered a driveline failure as the driveshaft and other components broke. Therefore, Dixon was unable to start the main event and took a hit in the point chase.

Ray Walsh of St. Louis, MO earned his first win of the season at I-55 Raceway in the UMP Modified division. It didn't come easy as track point leader Bobby Bittle applied the pressure to Walsh for the entire twenty lap distance. Bittle was able to pull along side Walsh on several occassions but could never make a pass. Tim Hill started on the pole for the main event and slipped as far back as the sixth spot before he found the right groove around the track and then he came back to the third spot and was challenging Bittle for second by the end. Rick Stevenson continued his great success in the last half of the racing season as he ran up front all night long and came home in the fourth position. Ray Wagner completed the top five.

The UMP Sportsman division put on a one of a kind battle that you had to see to believe. No less than ten cars battled for fifteen laps in a huge pack as they swapped position after position lap after lap. Steve Maisel, Troy Medley and Troy Naeger provided a classic battle for the top spot while the others ran right there with them as they used the entire racetrack to battle it out. In the end, it was Maisel crossing the line first, with Medley in the second position and Naeger third. Paul Bauman came from the fifteenth starting position to take the fourth spot while Mike Nicholson completed the top five.

Brad Almond took his first ever win in the AARA Pro 4 Stock division. Almond had his hands full as Trey Harris, Conrad Miner and Jason Crump were all over him in the last half of the event. Almond kept a good line around the 1/3 mile oval and held all three of them away to earn the win. Harris took the second spot, Miner was third, Crump fourth and Mike McMullin completed the top five.
