Pevely, MO (August 5, 2005) Side by side battles for the lead were the order of the day in all classes at I-55 Raceway. In the UMP Late Model division, Ed Dixon and Tim Ratajczyk provided the fans with a classic and memorable duel. The two started side by side on the front row and raced side by side for most of the event, exchanging the lead on numerous occassions. Ratajczyk hugged the low side while Dixon banged his car off the big dirt cushion on the top side. After a late caution with just five laps remaining, Dixon made an adjustment to his car's brakes from within the cockpit which improved his car's handling even more and he was able to power his way to the win. Ratajczyk took a close second place finish with Danny Haynes, Mark Voigt and Steve Shive rounding out the top five.

Bobby Bittle and Brian Worley battled fiercly for the lead in the UMP Modified division as they exchanged the lead several times in the opening laps. Mark Miner, Rich Whaley, Jerry Grither and Dennis Richards made it a six car chase for the lead, but in the end Bittle proved to be too strong and went on to claim the victory. Worley took the second position with Grither edging out Miner for third. Richards followed Miner across the line to complete the top five.

The AARA Sportsman division was another classic battle as no less than six cars challenged for the lead throughout most of the event. Things got off to a rough start on the opening lap for the Sportsman division point leader, Paul Bauman, as he tangled with Scott Stuppy and crashed hard into the outside wall on the exit of turn two. Both drivers were ok but Bauman's car was severely damaged and unable to continue. Pole sitter Jeff LeBaube was sent to the rear on the restart as he failed to have his car back into staging for the re-alignment after the three minute time limit was up during the red flag period. Once the race got restarted, Troy Naeger and Kent Nations battled side by side and nose to tail for the next twelve laps with Tom Smallwood, Jeff Smith and Jason Keller hot on their heels. On lap thirteen of the fifteen lap main event, the two cars of Naeger and Nations got together causing both cars to spin and eliminating both of their chances for victory. Smallwood inherited the lead on the restart and battled Smith, Keller and LeBaube, who had worked his way back into the top five after restarting on the rear, for the final three laps. Smith was able to pull along side Smallwood on a couple of occassions but couldn't make the pass and Smallwood picked up his first ever feature win at I-55 Raceway. Smith took the second spot, while Keller, LeBaube and Matt Hancock rounded out the top five.

Jason Crump won his first ever AARA Pro 4 Stock main event as he fought off the challenges of Mike McMullen in the closing laps. Chris Fisher took the third spot with Scott Geary finishing fourth and Brad Almond fifth.
