On  Saturday,  May 30^th, it was another great night of racing at the Highland Speedway. The 24 car UMP Late Model division led off the night. The first winner of the evening was Dick Taylor in the first heat over Marty Smith, Jr, Mike Schulte, and Clay Baumann. Second heat saw Mark Voigt beat out Frinkie Martin, Steven Unterbrink, and John Beck. Third heat had Chad Zobrist cross the finish line first then Paul Bailey, Mark Faust, and Justin Ketrow. It was Paul Bailey who took the checkered flag in the dash. He was followed by Zobrist, Voigt, Taylor, Martin, and Smith, Jr. Consi order of finish was Jason Zobrist, Kerry Gaultney,   Michael   Jacober,   Mark Clary, Steve Leach, John Cory, Justin Vosholler, Roy Simmons, and Lenny Garson. The Feature saw the sixth different driver in this division take the checkered flag. It was the eight time UMP Late Model  points champion of the Highland Speedway, Mark Faust. Mark was chased by Chad Zobrist, Bailey, Voigt, Taylor, Martin, Ketrow, Smith, Jr, Unterbrink, Baumann, Dan Jacober, John Beck, Mark Clary, Steve leach, DJ Cygan, Jason Zobrist, Michael Jacober, Mike Schulte, Kerry Gaultney, and Danny Ripperda.

There were 14 drivers in the UMP Modified division. First heat belonged to Robbie Eilers who led Jim Werner, Jr, Brett Korves, and Eric Goetter. Second heat saw Chris Smith take the win over Tyler Deibert, Roger Fohne, and Chad Sellers. The dash saw Jim Werner, Jr take the checkered flag before Smith, Eilers, and Deibert. The Feature order of finish was Chris Smith, Eilers, Werner, Jr, Sellers, Korves, Dean Hoffman, Fohne, Steve Ellison, Jesse Wisely, Steve Stotler, Ron Hartnagel, Paul Becker, Eric Goetter, and Deibert.

The UMP Sportsman division had 21 cars. First heat winner was Andy Casper who beat out Russell Eilers, Aaron Melton, and Mark Bohnenstiehl. Second heat went to Bryan Slover then Jim Lafferty, Jon Ripperda, and Ryan Eilers. Third heat saw Tory Ernst lead Rob Lee, Bobby Silkwood, and Josh Case. The dash had a repeat winner – it was Tory Ernst. Tory was chased by Lee, Slover, and Casper. It was Russell Eilers who captured his seventh win out of nine tries in the Feature. Russell was followed by Ernst, Casper, Lee, Slover, Melton, Bohnenstiehl, Lafferty, Rick Johnson, Allan Geiseking, Justin Durbin, Jeff Nash, Danny Beard, Dan Ricklefs, Jr, Ripperda, Silkwood, Bob Simpson, Josh Case, and Jon Huegen DNS.

The Street Stock division saw 20 drivers show up to go racing. First heat winner was Billy Kruep then Brad Venhaus, Stephen Fohne, and Bobby Dees, Jr. Second heat saw Michael Ripperda, Jr lead Terry McCann, Marcus Kruep, and Jason Nash. Third heat had TJ Eilers beat out AJ Cline, Jordan Bauer, and Stephen Flannery, Jr. The Feature belonged to Michael Ripperda, Jr who claimed his fifth win of the season. Order of finish behind Ripperda, Jr was Billy Kruep, Venhaus, TJ Eilers, Fohne, Bauer, Dees, Jr, Flannery, Jr, Jason Nash, McCann, Dusty Sampson, Nathan Rakers, Jeff Buss, Marcus Kruep, Fred Sparks, Jake Hewitt, James Rhoades, Jr, Keith Rose DNS, and Vince Pratt DNS.

The UMP Factory Stock division again had the biggest car count – 27. First heat had Dale Bohnenstiehl lead Charlie Durbin, Sean Denison, and Jeremy Izard. Second heat winner was Rob Shaw followed by Trevor isaak, Jason Suhre, and Travis Horner. Third heat went to Bob Zbinden over Justin Suhre, Matt Hamblin, and Jordan Suhre. Consi order of sinish was Aaron Wood, Nick Knebel, Andy Hellmann, Justin Hall, Scott Egbert, Rodney Bailey, Shawn McCall, Rick Viviano, Lacey Egbert, Kyle Swip, Willy Myers, and Eddie Sterns. The Feature saw Bob Zbinden take his fifth win over Shaw, Justin Suhre, Denison, Hamblin, Jason Suhre, Bohnenstiehl, Jordan Suhre, Trevor Isaak, Jason Schmidt, Tracy VonRohr, Wood, Austin Isaak, Travis Horner, Knebel, Scott Egbert, Hall, Hellmann, Izard, and Durbin.

Next Saturday, June 6^th, will see the return of the Gateway Vintage cars to the Highland Speedway for the first time this season. Also, it will be 70’s night. Winner of the best 70’s costume will receive $200. For the past two nights, for the purchase of a 50/50 ticket, lucky winners have been treated to a ride in a two seater during the races.
