40th Annual DIRTcar NationalsBARBERVILLE, FL – Feb. 10, 2011 – Clint Bowyer is getting comfortable in victory lane at Volusia Speedway Park after winning the DIRTcar UMP Modified feature for the second consecutive night during the 40th DIRTcar Nationals by University of Northwestern Ohio.

Bowyer surged from 17th into a second-place battle with Ryan Gustin to attack Austin Dillon for the lead. When Dillon dropped out with apparent motor trouble, Bowyer shot past Gustin and drove to the checkered flag.

“It was really fun tonight,” said Bowyer, who received and extra $100 for being the top finishing Larry Shaw racer car in the field.  “The track was pretty much wide open, they did a great job preparing it.”

Bowyer, a native of Emporia, Kan., who was one of 12 drivers to make last year’s NASCAR Chase to the Cup, had a spirited battle with Ken Schrader before taking aim at Gustin on a lap 11 restart.  Bowyer took charge for good on Lap 15 and held off Gustin for the remaining 5 laps for his second win in as many days.

With the win Bowyer will extend his points lead in the DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH overall DIRTcar UMP Modified standings. Bowyer entered the evening leading by 5 points over Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon, who wound up finishing 18th after his mechanical woes.

Gustin wound up second after starting 8th on the grid and trailed Bowyer to the finish by a mere .398 seconds.  Ty Dillon, Austin’s brother and the younger grandson of Richard Childress, managed a 3rd place finish ahead of Schrader, who improved two spots finishing 4th. Jon Henry of Ada, Ohio would round out the top five.
