(BRIGHT, INDIANA)  Scott James, of Bright, Indiana, will kick-off his 2011 racing season this Saturday night, March 19 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky.  The popular driver known as the “Silver Shark” will not be behind the wheel of his familiar #83, but instead will pilot a #81 Rocket / Jay Dickens entry owned by Scott Riggs and the Riggs Motorsports team out of Harrisburg, Illinois.  Scott has driven for the Riggs Motorsports team in the past and is looking forward to a great 2011 campaign in their equipment!

“First off, I have to thank Scott (Riggs) and his family for all of their generosity and for giving me an opportunity to drive their cars,” exclaimed James earlier today.  “We put this deal together over the winter and I am extremely excited to team up with Riggs Motorsports again.  I drove one of their cars a few years ago at East Bay and had some success in it.  They have top notch equipment and Scott is a great car owner that truly loves the sport.  I look forward to running most of the big races and the entire UMP Summer Nationals with them this year; it should be a lot of fun with hopefully a lot of success along the way!”

The Florence Speedway will play host to the 35th Annual ‘Spring 50’ this Saturday evening and a $5,000 top prize is on the line in the unsanctioned showdown.  Scott won the 2007 version of the ‘Spring 50’ and will be looking for his second title this weekend.  In last year’s edition of the 50-lapper, Scott piloted the Scotty Earl Racing #s44 to a sixth place finish behind only winner Don O’Neal, Greg Johnson, Dan Schlieper, Rod Conley, and Jeep Van Wormer.  Additional information on Saturday’s program at the King family owned 1/2-mile can be located online at www.florencespeedway.com.
