Quincy RacewayThirty Five Deery Brothers Summer Series IMCA Late Models checked in to do battle in the Sullivan Auctioneers Night at the races at Quincy Raceways on Sunday April 10. Mark Burgtorf drew the pole position for the forty lap main event and most of the crowd felt that it was a given that he would be in victory lane at the checkered flag but Matt Bailey had a different idea on his mind. Burgtorf jumped into the lead a the drop of the green as expected with Andy Eckrich close behind. Tyler Bruening took over the second spot on the third circuit to make it a three car battle at the front of the field until Matt Bailey powered his way into the second spot on lap eleven. Bailey then took the low line to challenge Burgtorf for the top spot and took over the lead a lap later. Burgtorf and Bailey battled side by side and nose to tail for several circuits with Burgtorf pulling ahead by a nose on the sixteenth circuit but Bailey showed his determination and took back the lead at the end of lap seventeen. Bailey then held off Burgtorf the rest of the forty laps to take his first ever Deery Brothers Summer Series win. Burgtorf settled for the second spot with Terry Neal sneaking past Justin Reed on the last lap to take the third spot followed by Reed in fourth and Bruening in fifth. Matt Strassheim, Bruening, Joey Gower and Tom Darbyshire scored the heat race wins with Terry Neal and Nate Beuseling scoring the checkered flags in the twin B-Mains.

The Miller Lite UMP Modified main event was a war between the top five positions with Jared Schlipman, Dave Wietholder, Vance Wilson, Michael Long and Shawn Deering providing the lead group action. Wietholder managed to hold onto the lead for the first seven laps with Schlipman and Michael Long Long taking over the top two spots on lap eight but it didn’t stay that way for very long as Wietholder got past Long to claim the second position a lap later but the action continued with Wietholder and Long trading second and third through lap thirteen with Wietholder securing the second spot for good on lap fourteen. Wilson and Tony Dunker powered into third and fourth on fourteenth lap with Long fading to fifth. Several caution flags flew during the action to slow the event with Shawn Deering and Long making contact on the nineteenth circuit bring the checkered flag out to end the event. Schlipman maintained first with Wietholder in second, Wilson in third, Dunker in fourth and Steven DeLonjay in fifth. Wilson, Deering and Schlipman all took heat race wins.

The IMCA Stock Car field may have been short but as usual, they put on quite a show for fifteen laps. Andrew Griffin jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag and held on until Aaron Brocksieck and Griffin made contact on the backstretch to bring out the yellow flag on lap four. Jerry Jansen the held the lead for a lap with Terry Houston powering into the top spot on lap five. Griffin powered back through the field to challenge Houston for the lead on lap six and kept up the pressure on the 2010 Track Champion until slipping past for the lead on lap thirteen. Griffin held onto the top spot until the last lap as Aaron Brocksieck worked the low groove to take the lead going to the checkered flag. Griffin settled for second followed by Houston in third, Jansen in fourth and Kelly Bartz in fifth. Brocksieck scored the lone heat race win.

The KRNQ Pepsi Inside Track Hobby Stock main event saw Bobby Anders dominate by leading all twenty laps. Wes Mayfield held onto the second spot followed by Nathan Anders in third, Brandon Symmonds in fourth and Steve Carlin in fifth. Bobby Anders and Steve Carlin took the heat race wins.

The Summy Tire and Auto Center Wild Things main event was dominated by Casey Kendrick as he lead all twelve circuits but the action was hot and heavy behind him with Todd Nelson holding off Craig Bangert in a duel for the second position. Bangert settled for third with Seth Woodruff in fourth and Austin Uppinghouse in fifth. Nelson and Woodruff too the heat race wins.
