For the first time this season, all four ULMA-sanctioned tracks were able to host a night of racing with dryer weather prevailing last weekend. Now, with the Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA championship in full swing, five different drivers have claimed victories out of six ULMA races contested and last weekend ULMA member drivers swept all four wins at the respective tracks! Callaway Raceway was able to run their second event as was Lucas Oil Speedway while Scotland County Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway were able to open their 2011 seasons.

Racing got underway last weekend in Fulton, MO at Callaway Raceways where Brett Wood of Warrensburg made his long-distance travels pay off with his first-ever Callaway win. Wood had to hold back teen phenom Jake Griffin and last season’s rookie of the year, Chris Cox for the hard-fought victory in his GRT. Justin Russell posted a solid fourth-place run with Bob Test coming away in fifth. Robbie Wright, Alan Westling, and James Stafford finished inside of the top ten of the thirteen cars on hand. Callaway is scheduled to run again this Friday night, log on to www.callawayraceways.com for complete details.

Rylan Long seems to get better and better with each passing year, and now just a few weeks into the season finds himself picking up his first win of the year. There were 19 late models on hand last weekend in Wheatland, MO. Long’s drive to the front from his second starting spot was a dominating performance over previous feature winner Larry Jones and Chris Morelock. Defending track champion Tommy Cordray came away in fifth with Chris Cox, Harlen Kennedy, and Andy Kennedy also posting top-ten runs. The track returns to action this Saturday night for another exciting night at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks, check out www.lucasoilspeedway.com for further info.

Racing got underway at Scotland County Speedway with Kelly Smith coming away with the victory as just four drivers were able to compete in the early season. Danny Lorton appeared to have things well in control until unfortunately his motor let go, costing him his first ULMA win. Jake Griffin finished in second on the night with another impressive run; non-ULMA member Lynn Monroe was third. Racing resumes this Saturday night at the track, be sure to log onto www.scotlandcountyspeedway.com for racing information.

Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg came to life for the 2011 season last Saturday night and it was a familiar face who wound up in victory lane among eleven cars on hand with Jason Bodenhamer, a nine-time ULMA winner last year, locking up his first win of the season. Bodenhamer was hounded nearly the entire race distance by CRATE late model regular Shawn Rayfield (non-member) of O’Fallon, MO. Rayfield showed his nose to ‘Bodee’ on a few occasions in turns one and two on the track but could never put together a strong enough run off of turn four to secure the pass. Brett Wood continued a strong weekend by coming away in third, Steve Clancy was fourth, and Kevin Coyne brought home a solid run to fifth. Other drivers on hand included a returning Allen Perryman, who looked like he had never been out of the car with a nice run to sixth. Non-member Lane Ehlert, Jon Binning, Bob Test, Chad Clancy, and Danny Monroe followed to the line. CMS racing continues this Saturday night, for more information visit www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

Several drivers have not decided one way or the other whether to join ULMA and we would like to share with them that it is definitely not too late to become a member and show your support for late model racing. With memberships at just $50 for the entire year, in which a driver keeps his/her 15 best finishes, there are still well over 70 points-earning races to be contested! Late model drivers who are members of ULMA help keep weekly late model racing alive at the local tracks; this includes CRATE late models, steel block late models, or spec motor late models. The rules fit for just about any style of “limited” late model racing out there today. Visit our website by logging onto www.ulmaracing.com and see for yourself!

Bob Test now finds himself at the top of the standings after posting two top ten finishes last weekend. Chris Cox moves into the second position up from fifth with last week’s leader, Zeke Langley, slipping to third. James Stafford holds onto the fourth spot with Jake Griffin moving into fifth. Brett Wood vaults into the sixth position after posting a win and a third-place run. Robbie Wright is now sitting in seventh spot with Larry Jones eighth, Rylan Long ninth, and rookie contender Justin Russell in tenth.
