Chad Simpson took his Brinkman Motorsports MasterSbilt to the Lucas Oil MLRA, AAA Missouri Victory Lane on Sunday night. The 10th Annual Alphabet Soup Race at I-80 Speedway drew a stacked field of 54 Super Late Models. Simpson won his heat race to start the feature from the 4th row. A back and forth battle for the top three race positions consumed the feature until Chad’s brother Chris Simpson, who was leading the race lost a motor with just 3 laps to go. Chad was able to take the lead on the restart and hold off Kyle Berck for the win. Berck was fast all night, winning in his A-Modified earlier in the evening and sitting on the outside pole for the Lucas Cattle Company A Main.

Kyle Berck was followed to the checkers by Lucas Oil MLRA points leader Al Purkey. Purkey did not do well in his heat and had to race into the feature through a B Feature. Purkey started the A Main from the 16th position, when the caution for Chris Simpson with three to go came out, he was sitting in 6th. On the restart, Purkey went from 6th place to 3rd in just three laps. Kyle Berck ran in the front of the field during the entire feature, got high in turn two and lost 2 positions before working back to fight off Al Purkey and Travis Dickes for his second place finish. Dickes finished 4th and Steve Kempt rounded out the top 5.

Joe Kosiski had an impressive night making the feature through a SLMR provisional starting the feature from the back and taking the KRC Hard Charger Award for his 7th place finish. Kosiski finished just behind Al Humphrey in 6th. A great night for both Kosiski and Humphrey. Gary Christian in the 58X finished 8th, Tim Isenberg, a Lucas Oil Late Model Series regular finished 9th. Five time Lucas Oil MLRA Series Champion Alan Vaughn finished 10th.

Heat race winners included; Denny Eckrich, Gary Christian, Chris Simpson, Chad Simpson, Travis Dickes and Kyle Berck. B Feature wins went to Brady Smith and Al Purkey.
