World of Outlaws Sprint Car SeriesCONCORD, N.C. — June 6, 2011 — After record-breaking events last weekend in Kansas to kick off June, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series sets its sights on legendary Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway for the Mediacom Shootout on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11. It’s the first visit of the 2011 season for The Greatest Show on Dirt to the legendary half-mile oval. For many drivers and teams, this is their only opportunity to test in preparation for the 51st Goodyear Knoxville Nationals in August.

Paul McMahan continued his stranglehold of the speed charts as he earned his sixth and seventh Quick Time awards over the weekend at Belleville High Banks and Lakeside Speedway. Not only did the McMahan set the fastest marks at both races, he also managed to shatter the track record at each facility. McMahan and his Roth Motorsports with Kasey Kahne Racing Maxim used their strong qualifying run on Friday to visit victory lane for the second time in the span of three events, having also won at the Circle K NOS Energy Drink Outlaw Showdown at the Dirt Track at Charlotte on May 28.

The following night, a gutsy performance by 20-time champion Steve Kinser allowed him to get around Brian Brown for his fifth win of the season and first since Las Vegas in early March. Kinser, a Bloomington, Ind. native, was racing just days after undergoing surgery on his left wrist to repair injuries sustained in a violent crash at I-96 Speedway.

With the series heading to the Mecca of Sprint Car racing this weekend, can Brian Brown, the 2010 410 Sprint Car champion at Knoxville and the pole-sitter from last year’s Knoxville Nationals, exact his revenge on Kinser and the Outlaws? Will Jason Meyers, who picked up two Top-Five finishes over the weekend, get his first victory of the season at Knoxville? Can Joey Saldana get his fourth win of 2011 and extend his points lead? Will Jason Sides add another win to his total? Or will Kinser best the field on hungry drivers once again?
