USMTS - United States Modified Touring SeriesWEST FARGO, N.D. (June 8) – Ryan Gustin returned to his winning ways Wednesday as the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour powered by Swan Energy invaded the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D.

‘The Reaper’ started tenth in the field with a powerful list of drivers in front of him, but the 20-year-old from Marshalltown, Iowa, took just 19 laps to claw his way to the front and overtake race-long leader Rodney Sanders, and then led the final 21 circuits to record his twelfth WIX Filters “A” Main victory of the season.

The win was worth $2,000 to Gustin and marked his 36th career USMTS triumph battling the best of the best in open-wheel dirt modified racing.

Perhaps just as impressive as his dozen wins so far in 2011 is his consistent threat to win. In 29 starts this year, he has won or finished among the top five 25 times.

After dropping out of the main event on Tuesday night with just four laps remaining, Jon Tesch rebounded for a runner-up finish Wednesday. Corey Dripps took third, Sanders held on for fourth and Zack VanderBeek came from the outside of the sixth row to grab the fifth spot.

Cody Skytland passes ten cars en route to a sixth-place results, while Jason Grimes, Kelly Shryock, Chase Junghansand Al Hejna rounded out the top ten.

Four more events in the Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Great Plains Region are on tap as the rugged USMTS road warriors continue their grueling stretch of 17 races over the course of 19 days during Summer Speedweeks with a return to the Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D., on Thursday for the 7th Annual Team Electronics Summer Slam.

Race fans can pick up coupons good for $2 off adult general admission at all three Casey’s General Stores locations in Watertown on Thursday. To find the location nearest you, check out www.caseys.com.

The Casino Speedway is a 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval located 4 miles northwest of US 212 on SR 20, then 0.7 mile south on Stokes-Thomas Lake Rd. (next to the city park). For more information call 605-881-1781 or the track hotline on race day at 605-882-2855. The track’s Official Website can be found at www.casinospeedway.com.
