Lucas Oil SpeedwayImpact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps Winged Warrior Showdown This Saturday, June 18th!

Wheatland, MO (June 13th, 2011)- On a picture perfect KIX 105.7 Night at the Races this past Saturday night June 11th at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri Rylan Long, Justin “Whitey” Folk, and James Flood crossed the AAA Finish Line first in the TNT Quick Shop Late Models, Pitt’s Homes A-Modifieds, and Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stocks respectively. The Frog’s Signs Junior Fan Club also hosted a special Firefighter Appreciation Night as over $500 was raised at Intermission for the Joplin Tornado Relief efforts.

The first Main Event of the evening featured the full bodied, high horsepower Carson’s Corner Factory Stocks as Burl Woods led the field to the green flag from the Pole Position. Sundance Keepper would take command early in the race and appeared to have the race wrapped up as a torrid battle ensued behind him on the ultra racey Lucas Oil Speedway clay oval. With just one lap to go though, Keepper slowed with mechanical troubles handing the lead to James Flood out of Billings, Missouri. Flood led the final lap for the win ahead of Warrensburg, Missouri’s Mark Carter and Clever, Missouri’s Steve Morton. Wheatland’s Chip Shaddox raced his way to fourth after starting in the seventh spot while Urich, Missouri’s Troy Reasoner rounded out the Top-5.

The Pitt’s Homes A-Modified on paper looked like a Whitey Folk runaway as Justin “Whitey” Folk out of Iola, KS started on the pole and captured the win but just behind him Fair Grove, Missouri’s Mickey Burrell had charged all the way from his sixteenth starting spot to finish just off the rear bumper of Folk in second. Tracey Wolf out of Buffalo, Missouri had a strong run to hold down the third spot at the finish while Nevada’s Jon Sheets came from eighth to fourth at the end. Sedalia’s Justin Moon started in third and held on for fifth at the finish.

The best race of the night was easily the TNT Quick Shop Late Models as it appeared that 2-time and defending Track Champion Tommy Cordray out of Browning, Missouri had finally broken the stranglehold that Rylan Long has had on the field the last few weeks. Cordray led several laps early as a side by side battle ensued throughout the race but Cordray appeared to lose power while leading just at the end allowing Long to retake the lead and the win for his fourth feature win in a row. A dejected Cordray was able to hold on for second. Neosho, Missouri’s Chris Hawkins watched the battle just behind the leaders settling for third at the finish. El Dorado Springs, Missouri Veteran Larry Jones finished in fourth with Christopher Morelock rounding out the top-5.

The Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps Winged Warrior Showdown featuring the Lucas Oil ASCS Warrior Region Winged Sprint Cars hits the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks” this coming Saturday, June 18th. The TNT Quick Shop Late Models and Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stocks will also be in action. Adult Tickets are just $17 for this first of only two appearances in 2011 by the Winged Sprint Cars. Seniors and Military tickets are only $12 while youth (6-15) are $5 with kids 5 and Under FREE. Family Passes are available for just $40. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00pm with Hot Laps at 7:00 and racing set to underway at 7:30. Visit www.LucasOilSpeedway.com for all the info!
