The annual Imhoff Construction of Jamestown, Missouri ‘Triple Crown Shootout’ is now underway for ULMA drivers with one race already in the books. This year’s Triple Crown event kicked off Sunday night at Kyle and Carol Wirts’ beloved Double X Speedway in California, Missouri with 19 drivers on hand. Non-ULMA member Brandon Imhoff took the win in the inaugural appearance of ULMA at the speedway. Jason Russell finished a strong second with ULMA stalwart Kevin ‘the Kid’ Coyne coming all the way up to the third position. Jason Bodenhamer finished with a fourth-place run after experiencing some interesting moments earlier in the night during his heat race. Danny Monroe came away fifth, his best ULMA run in several appearances and Alan Westling drove to a sixth-place finish after starting seventeenth. Russell, James McMillin, and Robby Warner came away with heat race wins. Early caution flags plagued the opening laps of the event as drivers tried to maneuver the tight confines of the speedway. Corner two seemed to be the trouble area for many drivers but once lap thirteen came around, drivers settled in and went green the rest of the distance to lap twenty-five as Imhoff took the checkered flag. ULMA hopes to return to Double X Speedway later this year for a points-earning event. ULMA wishes to thank Bonecutter Body Shop and Derringer’s Bar & Grill in California for making their inaugural appearance at Double X possible, we couldn’t have done it without their support!

The Triple Crown shootout now moves on to the Diamond of Dirt Tracks, Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri this Thursday night June 30th. According to highlights from the speedway’s latest press release, “over 30 ULMA Late Models checked in for this event in 2010. Rylan Long continues to lead the Late Model [track point] standings by 59 points over 2-Time and defending Track Champion Tommy Cordray, but Neosho, Missouri’s Chris Hawkins is now just two points behind Cordray in the third spot. Wheatland, Missouri’s Harlen Kennedy sits alone in fourth while Springfield’s Chris Morelock and Wheatland’s Andy Kennedy sit deadlocked in the fifth spot heading into this Thursday’s racing action.” Last weekend, J.D. Hubert picked up his first ULMA victory of the season by holding off his Brother, Evan, for the win. Rylan Long, Chris Hawkins, Tommy Cordray, Harlen & Andy Kennedy, and Robby Warner also came away with top ten finishes. On Thursday, Gates Open at 5:00 | Hot Laps begin at 7:00 | Racing Starts at 7:30. Callaway Raceway roared back to life last weekend with a healthy field of 19 cars on hand for competition. Robby Warner, who made the haul all the way over from Quincy, Illinois, took his second-ever win at Callaway Raceway and his third overall win with ULMA. Pre-teen driver Jake Griffin nearly won the main event succumbing to Warner late in the event before finishing second. Jon Binning made his first Callaway visit pay off with a strong fourth-place run with Alan Westling, Zeke Langley, Justin Russell, James Stafford and Gage Wineland also scoring top-ten finishes. The Triple Crown Shootout is part of this Friday’s action at Callaway Raceway as drivers continue to try and score top-tier finishes in the mini-points series. Visit www.callawayraceways.com for complete details; Gates open at 5:00 | Hot Laps 7:00 | Race Begins at 7:30. Adult Admission $12 | Children 7-12 $5 | Pit passes $25. Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, Missouri also had a nice field on hand with 16 late models checked in for the action. Jason Bodenhamer, Jon Binning, and Trace Westling grabbed the preliminary heat race victories to setup the field for the main event. For the main event, after some early race restarts, it was pretty much all green flag racing with Bodenhamer leading the way and Binning second. Meanwhile, Steve Clancy, Kevin Coyne, and Brett Wood had strong runs going. Once drivers settled into their race rhythm, Bodenhamer walked away from the rest of the field but a great battle for second took place as Coyne took over the runner-up position from Clancy. At the finish it was Bodenhamer, Coyne, Ehlert, Clancy, Binning, and Wood inside the top six. This weekend marks the annual track late model special with a 30-lap run to the checkers paying $1,500 to the winner!
