Strong Wheels To Midway Modified Main While Sam Petty Gets First Ever Feature Win In Midwest Modz

Lebanon MidwayLebanon,Mo.-The action continued Friday Night in the Central Bank Racing Series Action as a smooth surface and 3 wide racing highlighted the racing.

The Aaron’s Modifieds rolled out with Ted Ballinger and Tyler Brown on the front row.Brown jumped to the early lead with Ballinger and Shawn Strong in hot pursuit.Point leader Michael Stake dropped to the rear of the field before the start as motor problems ended his night early.2 wide racing was the call as Brown was hooked in the middle groove.On lap 3,Shawn Strong came out of a 3 wide battle and took over the lead as early leader Brown started to slow.Caution waved on lap 5 with Strong the leader and 11th place starter Colt Cheevers now in the runner-up spot.Strong brought the field to the green as Cheevers stayed close while Ballinger,JC Newell,Andrew Smith battled for third place.Strong would go on and hold off several challanges by Cheevers to grab his 4th win of the season while Cheevers,Ballinger,Newell and Smith completed the top 5.

The Central Bank FactoryStock feature was a wild event as Donnie Miller and Burl Woods brought the field to the start.Miller jumped to the early lead as Woods,Mark Simon,Tyson Truotman and others were side by side.Caution waved after lap 1 as Woods,James Flood,Simon and Shawn Whitman all got together.Simon’s night ended on the hook as Flood and Woods continued to race.Miller brought the field to the green on the restart,but his car slowed as Troutman got into him bringing out the red flag as safety crews had to unhook the drivers.Thid put Mark Davis in the lead as he lead for 2 laps before woods came roaring from the back to take the lead while Miller was charging hard.Woods would lead until lap 7 when something broke on the car sending him spinning as Miller also slowed with problems.This put Flood in the top spot as defending champion Troutman was applying pressure.Flood would finally pull away to capture a wild feature with Troutman,Davis,Whitman and Jeff Papala completing the top 5.

After several season of hard racing and weekly competing,Sam Petty finally took his first ever feature win in the Rocky Ridge Construction Midwest Modz feature.After 2 restarts,the feature went green as Rich Reynolds took the opening lead with Earl Muilenburg and Petty going 3 wide battling up front.Muilenburg would take over the top spot on lap 2 as Petty gave chase.THe side by side battle lasted until lap 6 when Petty moved to the middle groove and got around Muilenburg to take the top spot.Petty started to pull away from the field as point leader JC Newell got around Muilenburg on lap 12 and started to give chase to Petty.Petty stayed smooth for the last 3 laps to take his first ever Feature win with Newell,Muilenburg,Reynolds and Bill Joiner in the top 5.

Energy Company PureStock action saw plenty of fireworks and hard racing as defending champion Kory Barker grabbed the opening lead with Shorty Doublin,Justin Allen,point leader Monk Barker and Mike Piercy all battling.On lap 2,Monk Barker got into Doublin in turn 2 as Doublin returned the favor in turn 3.Officials sent both drivers to the pits for rough driving and disqualified both from the feature event.On the restart,Matt Young moved up to challange Barker with Allen in his Ford following.Young and Barker exchanged the lead back and forth with Allen gaining quickly on the high side.Young took the lead on lap 7 with Barker along side.Allen’s bid for victory ended on lap 7 on a restart as he slide sideways and then last weeks winner Kolt Barker got into Allen ending both nights.Young would lead until lap 12 when Barker moved to the inside lane and held off several challanges by Young for the win.Young,A fast moving Robert Doublin,Mike Piercy and Brandon Henderson followed.

Transport Graphics StreetStock action was 3 wide on the start with tom Curnutt grabbing the opening lead as Keith Cheever came charging from his 6th starting spot to challange while all eyes were on Joe Francis,last weeks winner Brandon Waters and Mark Simon as all 3 were in the back of the pack.With Curnutt running strong tonight,it was Francis who took the lead on lap 2 as Simon,Cheever,Curnutt and Waters side by side.Coming to lap 3,Simon made the inside pass on Francis and never looked back to celebrate his Birthday with a victory tonight.Francis would hold off several challanges to take home runner-up spot as Trevor Ellingson,Rodney Yost and Curnutt completed the top 5.Waters bid for a top spot ended on lap 13 when his engine let go.

Action continues Friday Night July 15th with Relay For Life Night at the races as Relay teams battle in race cars to help raise money for the Lebanon Area American Cancer Society in the race for the Purple Crown.Teams are selling tickets to the Friday night event with part of the proceeds going to the Relay teams.Tickets can also be purchased at Heritage Bank and Mid-Missouri Bank for only $10 for Adults.

Grandstand Gates open at 5:30 with the Regular classes of FactoryStocks,Modifieds,StreetStocks,PureStocks and Midwest Modz practicing at 7:05 and Racing action at 8PM.
