WAYCROSS, GA (July 12, 2011) – A big weekend of racing is on tap for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series this weekend with visits to Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.
The biggest race in the history of Tri-City Speedway will take place starting Wednesday, July 13th with a special practice session from 6-9 PM. On Thursday Night, July 14th the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series cars take to the track for Red Buck Cigar Time Trials and Heat Races. On Friday Night, July 15th will be B-Mains and the 100-lap Budweiser-sponsored “Battle at the Beach” paying $20,000 to win and $1,000 to start. The famous “Big Foot” Monster Truck will be on display both days at Tri-City Speedway as well. The event will be taped by Lucas Oil Studios and shown on the SPEED Channel on August 7th at 1 PM Eastern.
On Saturday Night, July 16th it will be the Fifth Annual CMH “Diamond Nationals” paying $10,000 to win. There will be a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Model competitors. With Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the Main Event. The event will be taped by Lucas Oil Studios and shown on SPEED at a date and time to be announced in the future.

The series has a tights point’s battle on its hands with Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN holding a 15-point margin over 2-time and defending series champion, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN. Bloomquist has won the last three LOLMDS events heading into this weekend. Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN holds down third place in the championship points standings followed by Steve Francis of Ashland, KY and Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.
Jared Landers of Batesville, AR is currently resting atop the Quarter Master Rookie of the Year points followed by Bub McCool of Vicksburg, MS, Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA, and Frank Heckenast Jr. of Frankfort, IL.
