MONSTER ENERGY WINGED SPRINT CARS PLUS SUPER LATE MODEL SPECIAL
(Macon, IL)The Monster Energy Sprint Car Series will roll into Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois this Saturday night, July 30th as a part of the MOWA Sprint Week that runs from Wednesday through Sunday. The best winged sprint car drivers in the Midwest will try to tame the Macon bullring as winged sprints return to the legendary track for the first time in many years.
Not only is the Sprint Week title on the line, but the series overall points battle has a bottleneck at the top with Jerrod Hull and Robbie Standridge tied and Jimmy Hurly 4 points behind entering Sprint Week. This week’s action will go a long way in determining who is going to be crowned the inaugural Monster Energy Series Champion and get the coveted ride in the Indy Race Parts Midget at the 2012 Chili Bowl in Tulsa Oklahoma.
But the excitement doesn’t end with sprint cars as Macon Speedway has put together a Saturday Night Double Header with UMP Super Late Models sharing the top billing. It’s hard to remember the last time both Sprints and Late Models were on the same card in Central Illinois, and fans are sure to be in for a night of great action. Also on tap are the Billingsley Towing Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pro Hornet divisions.
Drivers have had this night marked on their calendars as a can’t miss event since it was scheduled as a part of the original MOWA schedule. MOWA Co-founder Joey Moughan shares in that excitement, “When we started this series, we wanted to be able to race at the premier tracks within two hours of our home base in Springfield, Illinois and there’s no doubt that Macon is at the top of that list. The action on the track should be incredible, especially with the added drama of it being in the middle of our Sprint Week. I know that I’m coming there planning to win it. The problem is that there are twenty or more other guys who want it just as bad. It should be an awesome night.”
Pit Gates open at 3pm; grandstands at 5pm; racing begins at 7pm. General admission tickets for adults are only $20 and children 12 & under are admitted free with a paying adult.
