KNOXVILLE RACEWAY, Knoxville, IA, July 30, 2011 – Dusty Zomer brought a packed crowd to its feet on Saturday night with a last corner pass of Tyler Walker to record his fourth win of the season, and ninth in his career at the Knoxville Raceway on Candi’s Flowers Night.  Defending 360 champion, Clint Garner, took his third win of the season and the tenth in his career in that division.

After a spin by AJ Moeller and a run-in with the wall sidelined Austin Johnson, Zomer put Derek Ingalls’ #91 out front early from his starting spot on the pole.  Another spin by Moeller with a lap in the books sidelined the rookie, and Zomer found himself leading Dustin Selvage, Walker, Robby Wolfgang and Lynton Jeffrey back to green flag racing.

Walker quickly moved into second and began stalking the leader in the Jesse Keen #17K.  The California native would ride the cushion to the lead completing lap seven.  Mark Dobmeier, who had won the B after extensive repairs were done to his sprinter after a hard crash in his heat with quick-timer, Bronson Maeschen, had moved up to sixth by the halfway point.  The Grand Forks, North Dakota driver moved into fifth by lap 13, overtaking Selvage, who would retire two laps later.

Walker built a half straightaway lead with five to go, but Zomer began to reel him in, using the low side of the raceway.  He was within three car lengths taking the white flag and continued to pursue Walker into turn four, where he pulled in front on the low side and made himself wide to take the checkers.

“I think traffic helped me a little, but it was experience too,” said Zomer from Victory Lane.  “I run here weekly, and if Tyler had the last lap to run again, he’d do it differently.  My hat is off to him for coming in here and running strong.  I think we put on a good show for the fans!  I hope everyone enjoyed it.  We were strong and never gave up.  I hope it continues in the Nationals.”

Following the Brandon, South Dakota native were Walker, Brian Brown, Jeffrey and Kevin Swindell.  Hard-charger, Dobmeier, Kerry Madsen, Danny Lasoski, Austin McCarl and Don Droud Jr. rounded out the top ten.

Ricky Logan, Kerry Madsen, Ian Madsen and Brown won the four entertaining heats.  In addition to the Dobmeier/Maeschen crash, Ben Gregg got upside down on the backstretch when something broke after finishing third in his heat.  He would not return.  JD Johnson suffered the same fate during the B main.  No one was injured.

In the 360 feature, it was a battle of Sioux Falls natives.  Gregg Bakker shot out from his pole position following a spin by quick-timer, Tasker Phillips.  Bakker’s maintained his lead through a caution with three laps in the books.  Ryan Anderson stopped in turn four with a folded front end.

Bakker led Dennis Moore Jr., Jonathan Cornell, Garner and Casey Friedrichsen back to green.  Two laps later, Garner had moved into third, and by lap 13, had worked his way past Moore into second.

Bakker appeared to have things in control on the white flag lap, but while he was in turn three, eighth running, Jack Dover, slowed in turn two bringing caution.  That brought a green, white, checker finish with Bakker leading Garner, Moore, Billy Alley and Cornell.

Garner used a good restart to circle his fellow Sioux Falls driver for the win in the Fluth #40 powered by Parker Engines.  Following the lead pair were Moore, Alley and Chad Humston.  Cornell, Friedrichsen, Oregon visitor Roger Crockett, Nate Van Haaften and David Hall rounded out the top ten.

Garner was complimentary of Bakker in Victory Lane.  “It was good to race with Gregg Bakker.  I know how he works.  I knew exactly what his plan was.  He had a good thing going, and usually he doesn’t change it.  This is the third time we’ve won on Candi’s Flowers night.  We did it, and we’re up here again.”

Ryan Roberts, Larry Ball Jr., Josh Higday and Dover took the heats, while Tony Shilling grabbed the B main.  For the second week in a row, young Jordan Boston was the hard-charger in the A main, passing nine cars.

The 21st Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Nationals kick off Southern Iowa Sprintweek this Thursday night, August 4 at the Knoxville Raceway!  Tickets still remain!
