Springfield RacewaySpringfield,Mo.-When fans come to SpringfieldRaceway they know the USRA Modified feature is one of the toughest field of weekly show drivers in the 4-state area with the names of Dalton,Keeter,Tillman,Maggard and others.Well add yet another name to the list of front-runners as former FactoryStock front runner Robbie Bryant of Willard,a rookie in the USRA Modified division captured an action packed A feature Sat night at the Springfield Raceway.Bryant, back behind the wheel of a local racecar took the lead from Dairan Hendrix on lap 13 and went on to capture his first ever USRA Modified feature on Deer Lake Golf And Fitness Night.

The star-studded field of 17 cars took to the Quick-Quarter with Hendrix and Eric Lampe seting the early pace.Lampe grabbed the lead on lap 2 as Hendrix and Lampe went side by side.On lap 4,Hendrix took back the lead and was loking to add his name to the long list of feature winners this season.Rookie driver Billy Dalton was enjoying his finest run this season as he took his car right behind the lead duo to challange  while a torrid battle between defending champion Mitch Keeter,Bryant,4-time champion Jackie Dalton,2 time winner Bobby Pearish and other were swapping spots as only SpringfieldRaceway racing does.On lap 5,Turkey Classic Champion jody tillman’s second half troubles continued as the hard charger pulled high in turn 4 with problems.on the double-file restart,Lampe picked the bottom lane and pulled even with leader Hendrix.Caution flew again on lap 7 as jon Yeoman Jr got sideways bunchnig the field-up again. With Lampe again choosing the low side,Bryant found himself on the bottom lane as the green flew again.Hendrix ran the middle lane as Bryant soht around both Keeter and Lampe to secure second place.During this long green run,Bryant found a diamond line around the 1/4 mile dirt oval and made his winning move on lap 13 leaving the rest behind.A great classic Springfield battle saw Keeter and Jackie Dalton wage war for econd place while Erik Maggard was moving quietly through the field. With no more cautions,Bryant found himself in the winners circle with ease as Keeter,J Dalton,Maggard and early pace setter Hendrix in the top 5 as 15 of the 17 starters complete the feature on the lead lap.”I’m glad that race stayed green,”quoted Bryant.”I knew that it wouldn’t be long before Keeter and Dalton would be coming and Eric Maggard is always in the hunt here at Springfield. My car was really good in the long runs and we have worked hard on getting this program together this season. My dad has really been a big part as he always has in my racing. We have been learning more each week and it fells good to get a win tonight. This is different than a FactoryStock and I haven’t really been racing for 2 seasons or so.”

In Support action the Legends again provided another outstanding feature event as Skyler Looney took the opening lead with Wayne Johnston following closely along with Colt Pruente.Johnston the veteran hard charger moved to the lead on lap 2 as Rodney Baird and Rob Watson were moving forward. On lap 5,Watson pulled even with johnston and the battle was on as a fast moving Rodney Baird moved into third place. The first caution waved on lap 10 as teammates Pruente and Looney got together on the backstretch bunching the field up as Watson took over the lead.On the restart,Johnston who picked the low groove pulled even again with leader Watson as point leader Dave comer who started 12th tonight moved into the battle as Billy”The Kid”Cottrill was challanging also.On lap 16,Comer took the lead, but Watson gathered it back the next lap as defending champion Justin Comer was trying to break his mid-season bad luck streak. The caution flew on lap 18 as J comer and Cottrill bumped each other and ended their chance of victory. With a full moon overhead and shining brightly, the race took a strange twist on the final restart.Watson lead the field down and Dave Comer got to low in turn 3 backing him up in the field.Wayne Johnston spun on the final lap as Watson captured his first win of 2011 as Jay Reynolds charged to secure the second place honors with Rodney Baird following through along with D Comer and a fast moving James McDugle.

The PureStocks also saw a new feature winner as second generation driver Jeremy Thulin grabbed the opening lead while Wayne Morris followed. On lap 3,Morris who has been close several times this eason took the top spot and never looked back in a caution free feature. While Morris checked out from the field a great race between Thulin and point leader Jack Hamer saw the duo battle back and forth as Thulin record the runner-up spot with Hamer,James Redus and pole setter Bret Testeram following.

The full moon effect was in store for the Midwest Modz as they tuned-up for their huge Rob Burges Memorial/Garfield’s Rest event next week.As the field of 20 took the green flag, it was Joplin veteran “Gentleman” Randy Belk taking the opening lead over the birthday driver Ken Walker.Rusty Forrest moved into second place on lap 3 and the race was great with wheel to wheel action throughout the pack.Belk and Forrest kept back and forth for the top spot following a green flag run.Point leader Trevor Drake started his forward march after starting 10th tonight and by lap 4 was riding the top groove into the top 5.Forrest took over the lead after a heated battle with Belk on lap 7 as Drake was coming quickly.Following a lap 10 caution, points runner-up Sam Petty had moved from his 17th starting spot tonight and into the top 5 using the green runs and a couple of short caution flags.Forrest and Drake went back and forth, but it was Forrest grabbing the win until the tech inspection as an illegal rocker arm declined forrest victory giving the win to Drake with a fast moving Sam Petty, early leader Belk,James Redus and Gary Krebs in the top 5.Next week $500 to win with $100 to start the Midwest Modz event with only Midwest Modz drivers eligible to race that compete in Springfield,LebanonMidway,Dallas Couty and MonettSpeedway.

The StreetStocks ended their 2011 season as low car counts have forced the Speedway to cancel the class this season.Tim Petty and Bryan Tillman put on an exciting side by side event with Petty trying to notch his first win of the season. On lap 7,Petty slowed off the pace as the checkered flew for Tillman. Both drivers came to the frontstretch and recieved a great ovation from the fans for their support each week in this class as both drivers had perfect attendance.
