Jason Perry, Michael Long, Abe Huls, Brandon Symmonds and Craig Bangert all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday August 21 during Crawdad’s Gourmet Seasonings & Yellow Book Fan Appreciation Night at the Races.

Matt Bailey and Jason Perry put on quite a battle for the lead of the thirty lap Budweiser IMCA Late Model main event with Bailey finally giving way to Perry on lap fourteen for the lead. Perry then held off Bailey the rest of the distance to the checkered flag but the real battle was behind both of them as the top points runners were battling their way through the field. Denny Woodworth took the third spot with Mark Burgtorf in fourth, Justin Reed in fifth and Lonnie Bailey in sixth. Lonnie Bailey and Clint Kirkham were the heat race winners. Lonnie Bailey pulled into a point’s tie with Reed as the two sit only four points ahead of Keith Pratt and seven ahead of Denny Woodworth and eight ahead of Joey Gower with only the Season Championship for the division left on August 28.

Steven DeLonjay and Michael Long made up the front row of the Miller Lite UMP Modified main event starting grid and it was all Long during the green to checkers twenty five lapper. DeLonjay tried in vain to keep up with Long but had to settle for the second spot followed by Mark Burgtorf in third, Jared Schlipman in fourth and Shawn Deering in fifth. Schlipman and Burgtorf claimed the heat race wins. DeLonjay now holds a huge one hundred ten point advantage over Schlipman in his quest for his first ever Miller Lite UMP Modified Track Championship.

Abe Huls rang up his fourth feature win in seven starts in the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car division. Huls showed up late to the track and missed the heat race and had to start scratch on the field but he blasted into the lead on the thirteenth circuit and then holding off Andrew Griffin for the win. Griffin settled for second followed by Terry Houston in third, Aaron Brocksieck in fourth and Gabe Harrison in fifth. Griffin took the heat race win.

The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern Sport Mods made their second ever appearance at Quincy Sunday Night with Jim Gillenwater taking the feature event win but he had to battle back after losing the lead to Tony Dunker after a lap ten caution flag. Dunker slipped into the lead on the restart and held off Gillenwater until the white flag lap with the Keokuk, Ia. Veteran holding on for the win. Dunker settled for second followed by Rick Barlow in third, Bob Woodrow in fourth and Joe Bliven in fifth. Gillenwater also took the heat race win. Bliven holds a slim one point margin over Dunker after two events. IMCA has agreed to sanction the Northern Sport Mods at Quincy for the rest of the 2011 season and will crown a Quincy Raceways Track Champion and the first ever Illinois State Champion for the division. Two more appearances for the Sportmods are scheduled for Sunday August 28 and Sunday September 18.

Bobby Anders drew the outside front row starting spot for the twenty lap KRNQ Pepsi Inside Track Hobby Stock feature event and looked to be on his way to yet another feature event win but a blown tire on turn four of lap fifteen brought that thought to an end. Brandon Symmonds then powered his way to his second feature win of the season followed by Jake Powers in second, Jim Powell in third, Steve Carlin in fourth and Nathan Anders in fifth. Powers and Nathan Anders were the heat race winners. Carlin maintains a nineteen point margin over Powers in the points chase after suffering two flat tires during the main event.

Craig Bangert took his third feature event win of the season in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Wild Things main event with Seith Woodruff in second, Casey Kendrick in third, Austin Uppinghouse in fourth and Kim Abbott in fifth. Mike Hornung Jr. took the heat race win.

Coming up next at Quincy Raceways will be the TnT Action Sports Harley Davidson Season Championship Night for the Budweiser IMCA Late Models on Sunday August 28. Justin Reed and Lonnie Bailey are in a dead heat in the points battle with only a few points separating the top six positions as the points battle comes to a close for the division. The Miller Lite UMP Modifieds, Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Cars, the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds, KRNQ Pepsi Inside Track Hobby Stocks and the Summy Tire and Auto Center Wild Things will also be continuing their chase to the Track Championships which conclude on September 18.
