PADUCAH, KY (September 2, 2011) – Officials of Paducah International Raceway and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series have announced the decision to cancel the rescheduled Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on September 22, 2011 and to concentrate on promoting the series event for the 2012 season. The race was originally scheduled to be held on May 7 of this year but was rescheduled for September 22 due to area flooding.

“The Lucas Oil Series is a premier dirt date model show “, explained PIR manager Leon Zeeb. “When it had to be cancelled due to the flooding, we jumped at the chance to have it rescheduled on September 22 for our drivers and fans. However, after careful consideration, we have decided against the reschedule so we can fully support Paducah’s BBQ on the River, which opens on that same date.

The points system will continue for our classes and the remaining dates of our schedule will continue as planned, including our big Season Championship night on September 30. We look forward to bringing the Lucas Oil series back bigger and better next year along with all our other special events and regular Friday night racing in our exciting 2012 schedule. ”

Paducah International Raceway is a 3/8 mile high banked dirt track located off of Exit 11 in Paducah. PIR features racing every Friday Night in March through September, and is home to several special events including the USA World 50. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series was founded in 2005 and will sanction 45 events in 19 different stated in 2011.
