With only four sanctioned races remaining for the 2011 Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA season, two additional drivers recently added their name to the impressive list of winners for the 2011 season. Bob Test of Jefferson City, Missouri claimed his first win of the year at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg last Saturday in a race that ran green flag to checkered flag in twenty straight laps. Vance Wilson of Hartford, Missouri, claimed his first ULMA win this year last Friday at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri over a stout field of drivers on hand for the final night of racing at the speedway; Wilson was last year’s ULMA champion. A total of 18 different drivers have visited the various ULMA-sanctioned victory lanes this season.

Another strong field of cars was on hand at Fulton, Missouri’s Callaway Raceway on Friday night with 13 ULMA members present among 16 drivers. Defending ULMA champion Vance Wilson came away with the victory over a determined Bob Test in a competitive race that saw seven ULMA members finish inside the top ten. Previous Callaway winner, Justin Russell finished third in the race, one spot ahead of James Stafford, who scored an outstanding run to finish in fourth, his strongest finish of the season. Track champion Jake Griffin was eighth to the line, followed by Dave Miller and Chris Cox to round out the top ten. According to the track’s website at www.callawayraceways.com, the 2012 season will begin in April.

Action continued on Saturday night at CMS with 14 drivers checked in, 12 of which were ULMA members. Jason Bodenhamer wrapped up his second-consecutive track championship at the end of the night. For the main event, “Jon Binning dove into the low grove to lead the initial circuit with Test and Wood close in pursuit. Binning held the lead until Test challenged him on lap three. Brett Wood and Bob King entered the picture at the half way point with Test on top. Wood drove hard around Binning for second but Binning fought off his buddy and drove in low to take the second spot back with four laps remaining. Test was smooth in lapped traffic throughout the caution-free feature and claimed his first 2011 CMS feature win. Binning came away with second with Wood third, King fourth, and Coyne completing the top-five. Bodenhamer was seventh with Gage Wineland impressive in ninth and first-time ever CMS competitor Harlan Kennedy in tenth. There is one more ULMA points-earning event at CMS this year, which will take place during the track’s “Hog Roast Nationals” race on Saturday, October 1st. Recently, a silent auction raised $600 to add to the CMS late model purse for this race. Look for detailed information at www.centralmissourispeedway.net. Drivers and fans teamed up to raise over $600 at CMS for Homes for Our Troops.

ULMA has been informed by Scotland County Speedway promoter Rick Girard that races originally scheduled at the speedway will be relocated to 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri on Saturday, September 17th and Saturday, September 24th respectively; the September 30th date from Memphis has been removed from the track’s and ULMA’s race schedule. Girard is the promoter of both facilities. For the 24 Raceway events, hot laps start at 6:30 with racing at 7 pm. ULMA will award association points at 24 Raceway for the relocated events, as these dates were originally and previously scheduled to be ULMA-sanctioned point races. Visit www.24racewayinmoberly.com or www.scotlandcountyspeedway.com.

Racing concluded at Lucas Oil Speedway the previous weekend with Rylan Long taking the track championship. For speedway news, schedule, and information visit www.lucasoilspeedway.com. The Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA point’s-earning season runs through October 2nd with the last two races taking place on Saturday, October 1st at CMS and Sunday, October 2nd at 24 Raceway in Moberly. Both races feature additional purse money! The final ULMA race of the year at Moberly will see the winner take home $1,000 for the victory!
