Stake Fends Off Jackson At Midway For Modified feature While Keepper Keeps Rolling In Factorys As Season Champs Are Crowned

Lebanon MidwayLebanon,Mo.-A fast surface and great racing highlighted the Season Championship Night at The LebanonMidwaySpeedway Friday Night in the Central Bank Championship Night with over 70 race teams in the pits.

Defending Aaron’s Modified Champion Michael Stake was able to capture the 2011 track championship by just checking in and took advantage of his front row starting spot to capture his second feature win of the season by holding off repeated charges from Kris Jackson in the Aaron’s modified feature.

Stake got the jump on outside front row starter JC Newell to grab the opening lead while Tyler Brown and Kris Jackson went to battle side by side.With Stake holding a 5 car length lead,Jackson and Brown showed side by side action for 9 solid lap before Jackson grabbed back the runner-up spot on lap 11.With Stake in command,Jackson was making up ground on the leader and in the final 3 laps while Brown and last row starters Brian Webster and Lonnie Henderson were coming through quickly.Stake was able to hold off the repeated charges from Jackson to grab the win as Jackson,Brown,Webster and Henderson were packed-up in a great race for positions.

Sundance Keepper took the lead from Donnie Miller on lap 3 to grab an exciting FactoryStock feature event and his tuning-up for the upcoming Fall Brawl special paying event in October.Donnie Miller grabbed the lead on the opening lap from 2011 champion Tyson Troutman as 2 wide racing was the action all night long.Miller’s bid for another win was cut short on lap 4 as he pulled to the infield with problems.Keepper was able to pull away following the double-file restart as 10th place starter Brandon Waters and Troutman were side by side and Brian Schutt and 15th place starter Ted Welschmeyer were battling for spots.Keepper would not be denied the feature win with Waters just edging champion Troutman for the runner-up spot with Troutman,Schutt and Welschmeyer completing the top 5 in another action packed feature.

The Misouri Dirt Legends made their second apperance of the season at Midway and provided an outstanding.Jay Reynolds grabbed the opening lead with Justin Comer right on his bumper with Rolla’s Wayne Johnston in the hunt.On lap 2,James McDugle’s strong early run ended in turn 4 as the car came to a halt and Justin Comer pulled in with motor problems.With Reynolds setting a quick pace,SpringfieldRaceway champion Dave Comer moved into second place with Johnston following.Comer would make a pass 3 different times on Reynolds only to have the yellow flag fly.When grenn flag action resumed,Reynolds,Comer and Johnston really wagged a battle up front while Caleb McDugle and Rodney Baird went side by side for 4th.On lap 8,Comer overtook Reynolds and started to pull away.On lap 14,the yellow waved for debris bunching the field up.Comer would find Johnston making a move around Reynolds and began to close in on the leader.The Final 4 laps saw Johnston try several moves to overtake Comer,but Comer hung on to the victory with Johnston,Reynolds,Caelb McDugle and Rodney Baird following.

With the PureStock title on the line,defending champion Kory Barker got the jump on point leadr Matt Young to grab the opening lead only to have Young take the top spot on lap 2.Young in only his second season of racing was looking fro not only the win but als othe title.On lap 5,Young would spin around along with second place Monk Barker bringing out the yellow flag.This put Kory Barker back in the lead with Kolt Barker applying pressure.Young was stuck in the back pack and seeing his title hopes going wayside while up front Kolt Barker was trying for the win.Wheel to wheel the brothers went at it with Kolt taking the lead on lap 10 only to see Kory back on lap 11 as SpringfieldRaceway champion Jack Hamer was a solid third place and moving quickly.On lap 13,Young had moved up a couple of spots tring to secure the title.Up front the race for the win was side by side action as Kolt took the lead on the white flag lap.Heading down the backstretch,Kory got back in the middle lane as Kolt’s small lead was getting smaller.At the flagstand,Kory just nosed ahead of Kolt for the victory as Kolt,Hamer,Monk Barker and Tyler Schoen followed in the top 5.Young would grab the season title by only 4 points at the end of the night.

In StreetStock action,point champion Joe Francis jumped to the early lead with Trevor Ellingson following.Ellingson grabbed the top spot on lap 3 as Brandon Waters started his push forward.On lap 5,Ellingson got sideways in turn 4 allowing Waters to take the lead while Brandon Knudtson was coming from the rear of the field.With Waters setting a fast pace,Knudtson quietly made in arond Ellingson on lap 10 and closed in on Waters.On lap 12,Knudtson pulled even with the leader and the battle was on.Waters keeping in the high groove would see Knudtson pull even only to make a small bobble on lap 14,allowing Waters to grab the win with Knudtson,Ellingson,Francis and Rodney Yost completing the top 5.

Midwest Modz Champion JC Newell brought the field to the green flag with Rich Reynolds following closely.On lap 1,Newell bobbled in turn 2 as Reynolds went to the low side with both drivers making small contact.Just at that time Jamie Petty’s fuel cell came loose bringing the field to a red flag condition.On the restart,Newell pulled away in taking the feature win leaving Sam Petty and Rich Reynolds to race for second place.This battle was back and forth as Reynolds just kept ahead of Petty to claim the runner-up spot with Petty,a hard charging Travis Hill and Tim Jones following at the finish.

Racing will continue next Friday night with B-Mods,FactoryStocks,Legends,Midwest Modz,StreetStocks and PureStocks as drivers get tuned up for the Upcoming Fall Brawl.Grandstand gates open at 5:30 next Friday Night with racing at 8PM.Drivers will draw for heats and be lined-up using the passing points system.
