Strong And Keepper Tune-Up For Fall Brawl With Midway Friday Night Victories

Lebanon MidwayLebanon,Mo.-In preparing for the 6th Anuual Midway Fall Brawl,the LebanonMidwaySpeedway held a tune-up night of exciting racing action as 2 of the areas top winners this season Sundance Keepper and Shawn Strong added victories to an incredible race season while Justin Comer captured a last minute win in the LegendCars.

For the FactoryStock feature,outside front row starter Ted Welchmeyer grabbed the opening lead from pole setter Dylan Keepper to lead the opening laps with Sundance Keepper following on the top groove as the pack was tight.On lap 3 S.Keepper and Welschmeyer went door to door with Sundance grabbing the lead on lap 4 as Welschmeyer settled-in behinf the leader.Mark Simon had broken away and moved into third palce and was gaining on the leaders after starting tonight 7th.This great fast paced action saw several good races as Sundance began to check out on lap 7.The first caution waved on lap 10 as Brandon Waters spun in turn 4 and tim Petty had problems on the frontstretch ending his night.For the restart,Keepper jumped to the lead with Welschmeyer a solid second as Ben Solberg had moved into the third place spot and was charging hard.This second place battle was tight until lap 13 when Welschmeyer jumped the cushion in turn 3 and made contact with the wall ending his night.This gave Solberg a last lap shootout with Sundance in a shot for the victory as the field restarted.Solberg made a low groove move as Sundance went to the middle of the track.Heading for the checkered flag,Sundance would claim another win with Solberg,Simon,pole setter Dylan Keepper and Bradley McDowell completed the top 5.

The Modified feature saw plenty of action as they prepared the crowd for another great race.Pole Setter Tyler Brown grabbed the opening lead from point champion Michael Stake as Shawn Strong settled-in for third place.Brown was setting a blistering pace early as Strong went to the inside of Stake and took over second place on lap 3.Brown and Strong went side by side as Stake was riding the top groove.The first caution waved on lap 5 as Tony Moore came to a quick halt in turn 1 bunching the field-up.On the restart,Brown would find Strong trying seveal attempts to the inside but held of the challanges as Stake was searching upstairs for some extra speed as Midwest Modz champion Little JC Newell and Brian Webster battled.On lap 7,Strong pulled to the middle lane and puled even with Brown.on lap 8,Strong made the pass for the lead as Stake was still riding the top side.Caution waved on lap 9 as Kris Jackson who was subbing in Brian Myers car spun bunching the field up again.On the restart,Strong pulled away as Brown and Stake went door to door.In turn 3,Brown and Stake made contact as Stake went up the track and halted in turn 4.On the restart,Strong again pulled away as Brown and Webster went to battle for second place while Newell making his first B-Mod apperance was holding off Jackson for fourth place.Strong would claim the win with Brown,Webster,Newell and Jackson completing the top 5.

The Legend Cars made a warm-up apperance before next weekend’s special event with a great overall feature race.James McDugle grabbed the opening lead over Rolla’s Wayne johnston.McDugle would lead the opening 2 laps before Justin Comer grabbed the lead.J Comer would lead the next 2 laps before rookie Caleb McDugle got the top spot on lap 5 only to see Comer back in front on lap 6..McDugle took back over the following lap as Wayne Johnston and Park Jones were battling.On lap 11, Comer took the lead again only to see Johnston grab the top spot the following lap while the top 5 were tight.Johnston looked to have the victory in hand until lap 19 when Comer shot to the middle lane to grab the lead and hold off Park Jones at the line to claim the win and become the third different Legend winner in three visits to the Midway.Jones,Johnston Caleb McDugle and James McDugle completed the top 5.

The StreetStock event provided again lots of excitment despite a small field of cars.Brandon Knudtson grabbed the opening lead from his outsdie front row spot over Brandon Waters while Richard Adams and point champion Joe Francis were side by side.With Knudtson setting a fast pace on the top groove,Francis moved into the second place spot on lap 4 while back in the pack,7th place starter Mark Simon was making the low groove work as he was picking off the cars lap after lap.The long green flag feature would see Knudtson’s lead get smaller as Simon was coming quickly.On lap 8,Simon caught the leader and the side by side battle was on as Joe Francis was trying to gain ground also.On lap 10,simon overtook Knudtson and grabbed the lead.The next lap the only caution flew as Ricky Brashears came to a halt in turn 2 bunching the field-up.Simon would fire off on the restart leaving the pack to battle for second place.Richard Adams making his frist start of the season moved around Knudtson to take second place while Waters and Francis were in the mix also.Simon would claim the win with Adams,Knudtson,Waters and Francis following.

The Midwest Modz featrue saw Sam Petty come out on top in a 3 way battle on the opening lap to grab the early lead.Petty would hold off repeated challanges from Charlie Gentile to take the win as two wide racing provided an excellent feature overall.Petty was strong on the restarts leaving Gentile and point champion JC Newell to battle for second place position with Gentile claiming that spot with Newell,Rusty Forrest and Travis Hill completing the top 5.

Kolt Barker grabbed the opening lead in the Purestock feature only to see it red flagged as a wreck involving Jack Hamer,Larry Flaugher and Jim Alexsates happened.Hamer,The SpringfieldRaceway Champion for 2011 ended his night early with damage.On the restart,Barker again grabbed the lead with Shorty Doublin following.monk Barker made a move early to take over second palce as Matt Darnell was battling in third place.Barker would cruise to victory in the 15 lap feature as side by side action featured severa lraces in the pack.Following Kolt Barker across the stripe was Monk Barker,Matt Darnell,Brandon Knudtson subbing for point champion Matt Young and a fast moving Chad Hufft.Shorty Doublin’s great run ended 1 turn short as he spun on the final lap while running in the top 3.

Action continues next weekend with the runnnig of the 2 night Fall Brawl.Friday Night will find qualifying action in the FactoryStocks,B-Mods,Bombers,PureStocks and Midwest Modz with heats and pole dashes while the Legends will run a full show of time trials,heats and a feature.Sat night will feature the return of the High-horse power A-Mods along with feature events.

Friday night action starts around 7:45 with time trials for Legends with qualifying heats to start at 8PM.Sat night action is slated to start at 7:30PM.
