Peoria Speedway2012 Schedule to be released at Allen Trade Show, SRS partnership announced
(Peoria, IL) The 2012 racing schedule is being finalized for Peoria Speedway and will be released this Saturday, January 14 at the Allen Automotive Trade Show at Expo Gardens in Peoria. There will be a major announcement on Saturday as well, with very exciting news coming from promoter Curt Mottaz.

Peoria Speedway is pleased to announce that we are partnering with Spoon River Speedway in an unprecedented move by both tracks. Peoria and Spoon River will be working together on scheduling, with Spoon River running some Sunday programs so their drivers can compete at Peoria and Peoria being closed on certain Saturday nights so drivers can compete at Spoon River.

The partnership between tracks will primarily benefit the UMP Modifieds, Limited Late Models and Hornets. Modified drivers will be awarded an extra 5 track points for competing at the other track. For example, when a Peoria “regular” competes at Spoon River, they will be awarded an extra 5 bonus points towards the Peoria Speedway track championship. The same will apply with Spoon River Modified drivers who compete at Peoria.

“We are happy to be partnering with Brad Denney and Spoon River Speedway for the 2012 racing season”, said Curt Mottaz. “We have realized that with the tracks so close, we need to work together to help the drivers and fans see the best possible show. We hope this partnership continues for years to come.”

Two dates on the 2012 schedule have been already been released, with the return of the UMP Late Model Summernationals “Hell Tour” on Monday, July 2, paying $5,000 to-win. The UMP Summit Modified National Tour will be in action with the Summernationals. 2011 Summernationals Champion Shannon Babb is the defending race champion.

On Monday, August 13, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Series will return after a 14 year hiatus, last racing at the track in 1997. The ASCS is considered the premiere 360 winged Sprint Car organization in the United States, with Shane Stewart from Brownsburg, IN the 2011 National Champion.

A press release detailing the 2012 schedule will be sent out Sunday, January 15. To join the Peoria Speedway mailing list, fans and competitors can e-mail dirtwriter18@hotmail.com to get the latest updates from Peoria Speedway.
