BRIGHT, Ind. (March 1) – Scott James and the Riggs Motorsports team started their 2012 journey together from February 10-23 in the states of Georgia and Florida. In all, Scott entered ten Dirt Late Model events at three different southern venues: Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia, East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida, and Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. With high car counts and solid fields the norm at each of the facilities, it was quite a chore just to advance into the nightly feature events.

While Scott may not have achieved the results he was seeking when he left for Georgia and Florida, his finishes were not indicative of how fast he was throughout “Speedweeks.” The Bright, Indiana native transferred into his season opener, the $20,000 to win ‘Winter Freeze’ at Screven, but was collected in the 60-lap main event and wound up twenty-eighth. He then advanced into four of the six ‘Winternationals’ features at East Bay with his best finish of eleventh coming in the Saturday finale. The #81 team then made a last minute decision to head east to Volusia to wrap up “Speedweeks,” but mechanical troubles sent them home early after only a trio of races.

Scott’s results from “Speedweeks 2012” are noted below, while a detailed race-by-race recap is available to read online at www.ScottJamesMotorsports.com.

The 36th Annual ‘Spring 50’ will take place at the Cincinnati area oval in two week’s time and a $5,000 top prize is on the line in the unsanctioned event. Scott was the 2007 victor of the ‘Spring 50’ and finished a strong runner-up in last year’s version behind only winner Eddie Carrier, Jr. Additional information concerning this race can be accessed by clicking on www.FlorenceSpeedway.com.
