Trumann, AR (03/16/12) – A last minute change of plans last weekend saw Kyle Beard piloting his #86 Beard Motorsports/GRT/Samuels Performance Racing Engine Super Late Model to a top ten finish in the Turkey Classic at Springfield Raceway.
After seeing the 2nd Annual Pelican 100 postponed by rain at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) last weekend the team made the last minute decision to enter the $2,000-to-win, Turkey Classic at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, Missouri) on Saturday afternoon. Twenty-eight entries took part in the event, and after starting sixth in his heat race, Beard would accumulate enough passing points to lock into the seventh starting spot for the feature event. In the feature he would race in the top ten for the duration of the event before registering a seventh place finish at the checkered flag. Full results are available at www.SpringfieldRaceway.com.
“I’m really liking this new GRT race car. I’m already starting to get comfortable in it, and I’m excited to get back in action with it this weekend,” notes Beard.
This Saturday, March 17th the team plans to travel to Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) for the 17th Annual James King Memorial. The facility has seen wholesale changes over the off-season, and the $5,000-to-win event, which will be sanctioned by the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS), will serve as the grand reopening.
