Round one of the Kasey Kahne Challenge takes place on Friday, April 20th as the long straights of the ‘Historic Half Mile’ come to life for the first time in 2012 with the return of the World of Outlaw sprint cars and a rare appearance by the ULMA late models. NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne is scheduled to compete at the event and it is anyone’s guess who will take home the win for this highly anticipated race!

Sammy Swindell currently leads the current World of Outlaws standings and is among the favorites to claim the victory as is Brian Brown of nearby Grain Valley, Missouri and another local favorite, Danny Lasoski of Dover, Missouri, who has raced his way to three victories at the speedway over the years. Five-time Sedalia winner Steve Kinser along with 2010 winner Jason Sides, Donny Schatz, Joey Saldana, Kraig Kinser, Jason Meyers, and Craig Dollansky will also hammer the pedal to the metal and go for the win. After a wet weekend, the stars of the World of Outlaws will be ready to run wide open at the Missouri State Fairgrounds!

For ULMA late models, this event will mark the association’s first visit to the big track in two years. Jason Bodenhamer and Vance Wilson each have ULMA wins at the speedway, the only half-mile track ULMA drivers compete on. Additional ULMA drivers include Jon Binning, Brett Wood, Gary Billings Jr., Kevin Coyne, Chris Hawkins, Justin and Jason Russell, Steve Clancy, Brandon Imhoff, Bob King, Alan and Trace Westling, Jimmy Morris, James McMillin and Bob Test. General Fence, LLC of Grain Valley and Midland Printing of Sedalia are proud sponsors of the ULMA portion of this event. General Fence, LLC has added money to the purse while Midland Printing will present one driver with a $100 mystery bonus for starting the main event.
