Springfield Raceway’s Early Championship Battle Includes Kuntz Memorial Event As Full Show For All Classes

Springfield RacewaySpringfield,Mo-Round number three of the Transport Graphics Championship Chase includes a full show Sat night as the Speedway presents the 6th Annual John Kuntz Memorial featuring the battle between the MARS and MLRA Late Model Series.

All of the regular classes will be competing in this always popular event at Springfield and the local talent gets a chance to show-off their talent and skills as added money will be in all classes.

Action will feature the high-horse power of the Budweiser USRA Modifieds as they battle for a $600 to win payout while starting the 20 lap feature pockets a driver $90.The Dark Side Tanning Salon in Joplin will be the sponsor for the Modified feature Sat.night as not only track points but also drivers compete for USRA National points.Currently 5-time and defending track champion Jackie Dalton of Carthage holds a slim lead over Granby Engine builder and racer John Yeoman by only 4 points as 2010 track champion Mitch Keeter finds himself only 10 markers behind as last weeks winner Bobby Pearish and veteran Rob Muilenburg complete the top 5.

Action will also feature the Reliable Chevrolet GM Performance USRA B-Mods where Scott Drake of Webb City maintains a 13 point cushion over Mike Hailman of Reed Springs as last weeks winner Brandon Maggard moved up to third place just 15 behind Drake.Former Midwest Modz champion Kaleb Copher and Springfield’s Andy Beauchamp round out the top 5.

The Casey’s General Stores Midwest Modz battle is a dead-lock as defending champion Trevor Drake and Ozark’s Rusty Forrest are tied at 46 each.Clever’s Gary Krebs quietly moves into third only 7 behind with Todd McGregor and Nathan Gold rounding out the top 5 spots.

Wheeler Metals Legends point leader Mike Hailman puts his 2012 perfect streak on the line Sat night in competition.hailman has won both nights in the Main Event along with both of his qualifying heat races.The Reed Springs driver has topped off 4 consecutive Legends events at the “Quick-Quarter” going back to the last event last season along with this years Turkey Classic and the opening 2 point races.Oklahoma youngster Caleb McDugle has charged into the runner-up spot in the standings only 12 behind the leader and is in a dog-fight for position.Wayne Johnston of Rolla, a former Springfield regular many season ago sets in third place with former champion Justin Comer and Rob Watson in the top 5.

The Young Lions Legends kids division is new this season to Springfield as kids under 16 compete in this class.Nixa’s Wesley Smith holds a 10 point lead over Ty McWhirter of Arkansas while Kylan Garner,Jeremy Watson and Grayson Cox complete the field.

For the first time in over 1 year, Jack Hamer of Ava is not in the point lead in the Pepsi Pure Stock class.A stuck throttle forced Hamer to the pits at the start and placed him down in the feature. Oklahoma’s Bret Testeramn last seasons Rookie of the year in Pure Stocks leads the standings with a 3 point lead over last weeks winner Philip Schloesser and Hamer only 4 markers back.15 year old Rookie Tyler Thulin of Miami,Okla. and David Moellering completes the top 5.

The Street Stock class has a great early season point battle as Oklahoma’s Wayne Morris(Opening night winner) and last weeks winner Jim Reid of Springfield are in a deadlock at 44 each.Bryan Tillman sets only 2 points behind while Springfield’s Shawn Schmidt and Bolivar’s Wayne Bysor rounds out the top 5.

Special pricing is in effect for this Saturday’s event as Grandstand Admission for Adults is only $20 while kids prices remain the same with kids 6-12 only $5 and under 6 Free.

The grandstands open at 5PM with hotlaps starting at 6PM and Racing at 7PM.

Pit passes are $35 this week as added money is in all classes.Pit Gates open at 3:30 and drivers check-in cuts off at 6:15.

Normal Springfield Raceway line-up procedures apply this weekend as this is a regular point race for all.
