Belle-Clair Speedway(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Scott James, of Bright, Indiana, racked up his second feature win of the 2012 racing season on Saturday night, May 12 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky! Scott started eighth in his heat race and advanced up to third in his prelim, giving him the second most passing points. After rolling off from the outside of the front row in the unsanctioned main event, Scott led all thirty-five circuits en route to the commanding $2,000 triumph over Kent Robinson, Joe Janowski, Mike Jewell, and Rod Conley!

The only other Riggs Motorsports driver in competition over the weekend was Christopher, Illinois native Kevin Cole. Kevin traveled to the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on Friday evening for a $1,200 to win weekly UMP show. Kevin finished third in heat race action, but broke a rocker arm in doing so. Due to the mechanical troubles, Kevin was forced to scratch from both the dash and the feature event. Full results from both venues can be accessed online at www.florencespeedway.com and www.tricityspeedway.net.

“It was good to get back into victory lane again, especially at Florence,” commented James this week. “They have worked hard on the track to get it back to smooth and slick like normal Florence and they are getting closer. It has been rough and fast all year, but we were able to make the correct adjustments to the car throughout the night. We’ll see if we can’t get on a little roll here leading up to a couple of the biggest races of our season, which are the Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence and the Dream at Eldora. It would be great to head into the month of June with a little momentum on our side!”

Scott and Kevin will both return to action representing Riggs Motorsports over the upcoming May 18-19 weekend, while Jason Riggs takes advantage of another weekend off. Scott is set to tackle the Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio on Friday for a $3,000 to win ADRA event and the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday for a $1,500 to win regular weekly show. Kevin, on the other hand, is leaning towards invading the tiny Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Illinois on Friday night for the ‘Battle at Belle-Vegas,’ which boasts a $2,000 top prize for UMP Late Models.
