Sunoco ALMSPINCONNING, MI (May 17) – The Iron Motorsports team and driver Jeep Van Wormer entered their second event of the 2012 racing season on Friday evening, May 11 at the Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, Michigan. The ultra-competitive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rolled into Hartford last Friday to sanction a $10,000 to win battle. Jeep ran fifth in his loaded heat race and later earned the second transfer spot through his B-Main. After rolling off from the inside of the tenth row in the ‘Lane Automotive 48,’ Jeep was able to move up eight positions during the 48-lap distance en route to a steady eleventh place effort. Full results from Hartford can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

“For only the second race of our season, I was pleased with how we stacked up against a very strong field of cars,” exclaimed Van Wormer earlier this week. “I think with an earlier qualifying number we would have been in better shape, as the track slowed down a lot throughout time trials. But the car ran well, the motor was strong, and I am looking forward to a big Memorial Day weekend. I enjoy racing at Mount Pleasant, Oakshade, and Eldora and hopefully we can run up front at all three tracks next weekend!”

Jeep and the #55 team plan to enjoy the upcoming May 18-19 weekend away from the racetrack, but will return to action the following weekend in a big tripleheader. The American Late Model Series (ALMS) will sanction a trio of $2,000 to win programs from May 25-27 in the states of Michigan and Ohio. The Mount Pleasant Speedway in Mount Pleasant, Michigan will host the opener next Friday, while the Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio will take center stage on Saturday night. On Sunday, the three-day weekend will conclude at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Additional information can be obtained by clicking onwww.americanlatemodelseries.com.
