Twelve races into the 2012 Lucas Cattle Company ULMA season and there are now seven different drivers that have visited victory lane at sanctioned events. The latest driver to add his name to the growing list of winners is Evan Hubert of Cross Timbers, Missouri, who drove to victory at Lucas Oil Speedway. Meanwhile, Bob Test of Jefferson City, Missouri continued his early season surge made it two victories in a row at Fulton, Missouri’s Callaway Raceway.

In the coming weeks, there are limited opportunities for drivers to earn sought after points for the association and drivers are racing hard to capture the best finishes possible to count towards their 15 best performances of the season. Last Friday at Callaway Raceway, there were 13 competitors on hand for the action when Test claimed his second straight win. Last week Test had a mirror full of ULMA point leader Jason Russell, and although it was still someone with the Russell last name trying to capture the victory and it was still no easier as Test’s was able to claim the win over Justin Russell, who scored his best finish of the young season in second position. Brandon Imhoff posted another solid Callaway top-three finish with Jason Russell coming away in fifth. Darren Turner, Trace Westling, Chris Cox and Alan Westling also posted ULMA member top-ten finishes. Friday racing resumes this weekend with another night of weekly racing at the raceway, visit www.callawayraceways.com for event details and start times.

In four weeks of racing at Lucas Oil Speedway, car counts have been strong and fans are leaving the speedway witnessing something not many late model fans in the nation can brag about. The average weekly race program car cont of 29, nearly unheard of in this day and age has made racing headlines this season. The drivers who have found their way to victory lane at the speedway this year have truly earned the accolades surrounding their victory celebrations. The latest driver to add his name to the list of winners is Evan Hubert, who had posted some strong runs this season put it all together this past weekend as he held off Joe Walkenhorst and Jeremy Kelley to claim the win. It was Hubert’s first ULMA win since June of 2011 when he last drove to victory at Lucas Oil Speedway. Walkenhorst’s second-place showing was his best-ever ULMA finish while Jeremy Kelly posted his fourth-consecutive top-four finish at the speedway. ULMA late models will not return to the speedway until Saturday, June 9 as the speedway prepares for the annual Show-Me 100 special-event followed by an off-week for the speedway for the next weekend. For speedway and special-event details, log on to the track’s website at www.lucasoilspeedway.com.

ULMA’s third appearance of the year is set for this Friday, May 25 at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri as drivers are set to compete for not only ULMA points but equally important, track points at the speedway. When the MLRA late models roll into town on Friday, June 15, participating ULMA drivers trying to race their way into the main event will be eligible for one of two provisional feature race starting positions offered to ULMA drivers. The first provisional will go to the highest ULMA legal participating driver in current Valley Speedway track points who does not transfer to the MLRA main event on their own. The second provisional starting position goes to the driver highest in the current overall ULMA point standings who does not transfer to the main event on their own. Late Model racing at Valley this season has seen close competition with the main events coming down to the wire as several drivers have shown they want to post a victory at the track. So far this season, Chris Hawkins and Brett Wood have claimed Valley victories with Jason Bodenhamer coming home second during each of the first two events. This Friday’s action serves as the final tune-up for drivers searching for the competitive edge and best setups before they take part in the MLRA action on Friday, June 15. Visit www.valleyspeedway.com for event details, schedule, and start times for this weekend’s action.

ULMA is pleased to announce the dates for this year’s annual ‘Triple Crown Shootout’ in which drivers will compete in a three-race mini points-earning series for additional prize money. Competing drivers have the following race options to garner three starts out of the four available races from Friday to Sunday: Friday, June 29th at Callaway Raceway or Friday, June 29th at Valley Speedway, Saturday, June 30th at Lucas Oil Speedway, with the finale taking place on Sunday, July 1st at Double X Speedway in California, Mo. The July stop at Double X is sponsored by Bonecutter Body Shop of California. Drivers not familiar with the tiny Double X Speedway will have a chance to get the feel of the track as ULMA will hold a points-earning event at the track on Sunday, June 17th to build up to the Triple Crown Shootout two weeks later. Complete details and entry forms will be made available in the coming days on ULMA’s official website. ULMA recently learned that during the Triple Crown Shootout, Lucas Oil Speedway will pay $1,000 to win on Saturday, June 30th for late models in the special 25-lap feature courtesy of Rains Ice Company.
On Saturday, June 2, drivers will have another opportunity to earn one of two ULMA provisional starting positions during the MLRA late model race at LA Raceway in LaMonte, Missouri. Only drivers competing in ULMA-legal cars are eligible for the provisional starting positions. Drivers who are ULMA members will earn association points for their participation during the race program in the same manner as a regularly sanctioned ULMA race.
