Griffin, Long, Huls, Dunker, Hoener and Hornung Grab Pepsi Mid-Season Championship Wins at Quincy

Dustin Griffin, Michael Long, Abe Huls, Tony Dunker, Brian Hoener and Mike Hornung Jr. all picked up the Annual Pepsi Mid Season Championship feature event wins atQuincy Racewayson Sunday June 10.

Griffinmade a clean sweep of the UMP Super Late Model division as he picked up wins in his hear, dash and the 30 lap Pepsi Mid-Season Championship feature. Jason Perry battled furiously with Griffin for the first seventeen laps of the main event but a slip on turn four on the eighteenth lap sent Perry to the tail of the field on the restart. Jim Moon then took over the top spot for three circuits but Griffin roared back to reclaim the lead to the checkered flag. Moon settled for second followed by Denny Woodworth in third, Mark Burgtorf in fourth and Jerry Lierly in fifth. Perry grabbed the win in the other heat race.

Michael Long started the twenty five lap Miller Lite Ump Modified Mid Season Championship feature event from third row and did not take the lead until the sixteenth circuit. Long held off Steven DeLonjay for the win with early leader, Dave Wietholder claiming third ahead ofJared Schlipman and Jake Griffin. Schlipman, Wietholder and Ryan Porter were the heat race winners.

Abe Huls managed to lead every lap of the IMCA Stock Car main event but he had to hold off a very determined field to get the job done. Darin Weisinger grabbed the second spot followed byMichael Larsenin third,Terry Houstonin fourth and Jerry Jansen in fifth. Larsen scored the lone heat race win.

Tony Dunker took his fifth feature win in eight tries in the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA SportMod Pepsi Mid Season Championship event. Dunker held off Bobby Anders in secondTanner Klingelein third, Joe Bliven in fourth and Brad Holtmeyer in fifth. Vance Wilson and Dunker were the heat race winners.

Brian Hoener took the lead in the Quincy Hobby Stock Pepsi Mid Season Championship feature event on the third lap and held off all challengers to take his second feature win of the season. Jeff DeLonjay scored his best finish of the year in second followed by Jaime Bevill in third, Nathan Hayes in fourth and Justin Bevill in fifth. Hoener and Jake Powers were the heat race winners.

Andrew Davis led the first six laps of the IMCA Sport Compact main event but Mike Hornung Jr. took over the top spot on lap seven and held off Chuck Fullenkamp over the final four laps to take the Pepsi Mid Season Championship feature event win. Fullenkamp settled for second with William Michel in third, Kimberly Abbott in fourth and Seith Woodruff in fifth. Woodruff and Robert Thompson Jr. were the heat race winners.

Coming up next at Quincy Racewayswill be the Ursa Farmers Coop Night at the Races. Pit Gates open at 3:30, Grandstands at 5, Drivers Registration ends at 5:30, Drivers Meeting at 5:30, Hot Laps at 5:45 and Racing at 6:30pm. Adults are $10, Seniors are $7, Students 11-15 are $5 and Kids 10 and Under are Free.
