(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Brasstown, North Carolina pilot Ray Cook and the D&R Motorsports team invaded the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on June 8-9 for the 18th edition of the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ presented by Ferris Commercial Mowers. The crown jewel extravaganza drew 98 entrants to the 1/2-mile, high-banked facility and all eyes were on the hefty $100,000 top prize. During the two-round qualifying session on Friday night, Ray timed in twenty-eighth fastest, which placed him starting in the third row of one of the six heat races on Saturday evening.

When the action really heated up on Saturday, Ray finished sixth in his loaded heat race and eleventh in the B-Main. Unfortunately, the driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” was unable to advance into the 100-lap ‘Dirt Late Model Dream,’ but he did finish a solid third in the $1,000 to win B-Scramble behind winner Josh Richards and runner-up Brad Neat. Full results from the weekend at the “Big E” can be found by clicking on www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Next up for the #53 team will be a trip to the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Saturday evening, June 16 for the 2nd Annual ‘Big Daddy 500.’ The Southern Allstars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) will preside over the one-day program, which boasts a $5,000 winner’s check. Ray has visited Smoky Mountain on two occasions already in 2012 and walked away with a fourth place effort in both visits. Additional information can be accessed by logging onto www.sasdirt.com.
