Ponderosa SpeedwayJunction City, KY-June 23, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway would present Saturday night racing action and it would be the 17th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models and Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY would become the 13th different winner of the event and claim the $2,000 payday. Dustin Neat and Todd Coffman would bring the 20 car starting field to the green flag in the 17th Annual Pete Abell Memorial for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, with Neat immediately going to the race lead, while Coffman and Michael Chilton would follow. Fifth starting Brad Neat would make his way to third by lap 6 and he and Chilton would settle into a nice battle for second before Brad Neat would take the runner-up slot on lap 10. Chilton, Coffman, and Justin Rattliff would then begin a three-way battle for fourth that at times would be three-wide. The 20 lap Clayton Homes Modified main event would be plagued by four caution flags, but when all was said and done, Tommy Bailey turned in a repeat performance of the previous evening and scored his second straight feature event victory behind the wheel of the Matthew and Kenneth Jordan owned Jordan Motorsports/Mac-Trac Transportation/Micro Armor Lubricants/Wayne Bowen Racing Supply/ Lakeside Towing/Skillsaw Designs/Diamond Auto Collision sponsored #17J Lightning Chassis powered by a Niebel Race Engine. Eighteen entries saw England be top qualifier at 15.446 seconds, with Smith Automotive Machine Shop heat victories falling to England, Bailey, and Despain.

The 15 lap Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman main event would see Derek Bottoms and Bartley Grant duel for the race lead early, with Grant taking command for good after a restart on lap 6 and drive away to his second consecutive win in the division in the seat of Tori Grant owned Cookie Monster Power Plants/Double J Cylinder Heads/Smokehouse Grill/Climax Horse Farm/B-Cool Window Tinting/The Muffler Shop/Browning Trucking/Wilburn Custom Guitars/Copper Creek Welding sponsored #1 unit.
