Reed, DeLonjay, Huls, Dunker, Hoener and Bercerra Score Quincy Feature Wins

Quincy Raceways Justin Reed, Steven DeLonjay, Abe Huls, Tony Dunker, Brian Hoener and Austin Bercerra all took feature event wins during Albertson Auto Body Night at the Races at Quincy Raceways on Sunday June 24.

Justin Reed took his second feature win of the year in the UMP Super Late Model division after taking the lead from Jason Perry on the third lap of the 30 lap main event. Reed scored the win by a three second margin after dominating the entire event. Perry settled for the second spot followed by Michael Long in third, Dustin Griffin in fourth and Mark Burgtorf in fifth. Jim Moon and Perry were the heat race winners with Perry taking the checkered flag in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Dash.

Steven DeLonjay scored a controversial feature event win in the Miller Lite UMP Modified feature event. DeLonjay took the lead on the second lap of the twenty five lapper and held off Dave Wietholder and Michael Long until Long got past to the lead on lap nineteen. Long then held on to the top spot until a lap twenty two restart when contact with DeLonjay sent Long over the banking in turn one. DeLonjay then held off Wietholder to the checkered flag with Jared Schlipman in third, Robbie Reed in fourth and Shawn Deering in fifth. Chris Spalding and Ryan Porter were the heat race winners.

Abe Huls took his track leading seventh feature win of the season in the IMCA Stock Car division over Jerry Jansen in the second spot. Jansen made a valiant charge at the end of the fifteen lapper to only come up a car length short at the finish line. The third spot went to Gabe Harrison, fourth to Michael Larsen and fifth to Darin Weisinger. Larsen grabbed the heat race win.

The Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMod main event had five different leaders with Tony Dunker taking the lead from Vance Wilson on the fifth lap from his fourth row starting spot and holding off Wilson to take his sixth feature win in ten events this year.Wilsonsettled for second followed by Bobby Anders in third, Joe Bliven in fourth and Brad Holtmeyer in fifth. Wilson and Anders were the heat race winners.

Brian Hoener took the feature event win in the Quincy Hobby Stocks after a great battle with Tanner Klingele, Jake Powers, and Brandon Symmonds. Klingele scored the second spot followed by Symmonds in third, Jeremy Buss in fourth. Jamie Bevill crossed the finish line in the fifth spot but his carburator failed inspection bringing Justin Bevill into the fifth position. Symmonds and Jake Powers were the heat race winners.

The IMCA Sport Compacts put on a great race on Sunday night with Austin Bercerra taking the feature event win over Robert Thompson Jr. in second, Kim Abbott in third, Seith Woodruff in fourth and Laine VanZandt in fifth. Brandon Lambert and Abbott were the heat race winners.

Sunday July 1 will be a super night of racing action at Quincy Raceways with the first appearance of the MOWA 410 Winged Sprint Cars at the Broadway Bullring. The UMP Super Late Models and the IMCA Stock Cars will get a night off as the Winged Sprints will battle for a $2000 first place prize. The Pit Gates open at 3:30, Grandstands at 5:00, Driver’s Registration Ends at 5:30, Driver’s Meeting at 5:30, Hot Laps at 5:45 and Qualifying and Racing at 6:30pm. Adults are $18, Seniors $15, Students 11-15 are $13 and Kids 10 and Under are Free as always.
