NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model SeriesFulton, MS (06/26/12) – On Sunday, May 27th Eric Cooley piloted the #33b Bryson Motorsports/Barry Wright Crate Late Model to an apparent $2,000 feature win with the NeSmith Late Model Series at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). However, in post-race, technical inspection he was notified by NeSmith Late Model Series officials that he had been disqualified due to his tire testing positive for an unapproved chemical presence. While the series indicated that the sniffer decision was final, and the tire would not be submitted to a lab for testing, the team took it upon themselves to submit the tire to a testing lab for their own peace of mind. The conclusive results were made available by the testing laboratory on Tuesday, June 26th, and the lab showed that the tire was within the limits of a Hoosier D21 tire.

Team owner, Norman Bryson, states, “At this point we know that the series will not take any further action to rectify this incorrect disqualification. However, everyone here at Bryson Motorsports wants to make it known that the testing lab results show that the tire was not chemically altered. It’s unfortunate that the sniffer was the judge and jury in this situation. If anything, hopefully this helps prevent another driver and team from being incorrectly labeled as cheaters in the future.”

The team now turns their attention to a big weekend of racing action, which will see Eric enter his first ever event at the famed, 1/2 mile at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) as the FASTRAK Late Model Series hosts the Chevy Performance FASTRAK Clash on Saturday evening.
