DIRTcar Summer Nationals(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Scott James and the Riggs Motorsports team were ultra-busy last week (July 2-8), as they entered five Dirt Late Model events throughout the states of Illinois and Indiana. Their busy week started last Monday with a strong top five finish in UMP Summer Nationals action at the Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois. After running second in his heat race, Scott moved up two spots in the $5,000 to win main event to net a fourth place performance behind only winner Brian Shirley, Dennis Erb, Jr., and Shannon Babb.

This past weekend saw Scott almost nab a pair of wins in the Hoosier State of Indiana. On Saturday in a rare trip to the nearby Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Scott won his heat race and led the majority of the $1,500 to win, 20-lap feature event before winding up third in the final rundown behind only winner Greg Johnson and runner-up Duane Chamberlain. At the immaculate Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana on Sunday, the Bright, Indiana ace nearly picked up a $5,000 UMP Summer Nationals triumph. After winning his heat race and leading virtually all of the 40-lapper, Scott got nipped at the finish line by surprise winner Scott Weber.

Riggs Motorsports teammates Jason Riggs and Kevin Cole were also in dirt-slinging competition over the weekend. On Saturday evening, Jason finished eleventh in the final rundown of a $7,500 to win UMP Summer Nationals battle at the Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee. Both Jason and Kevin then joined the “Silver Shark” at Haubstadt on Sunday night. Jason wound up eighteenth in the $5,000 to win affair, while Kevin recorded a nineteenth place effort. A detailed account of each race from last week is available online at www.riggsmotorsports.com.
