For Immediate Release–

Sunday night thunder continues at Double X Speedway. Sunday night saw exciting action in all four classes in competition. In the headline division at Double-X, the Xxtreme Glass Winged Sprint Cars, Cody Baker of Lone Jack returned to victory lane. After taking the victory in the first heat race, Baker joined fellow heat race winner David Brown on the front row for the main event. Taking charge at the drop of the green Baker would lead all 25 laps to secure the victory. Fourth starting Tyler Blank of California ran a strong second in the feature event. Bryan Grimes of Slater came home in third, Taylor Walton of Warrensburg drove a steady race to finish fourth, Tyler Elliott of California continues to show improvement in his young career coming home in fifth and Clarksburg’s Lanny Carpenter crossed the stripe in sixth. Rounding out the top ten were David Brown of Marshall in seventh, AJ Wirts of California in eighth, Rust Quick of Lebanon in ninth and TJ Muths of Sedalia claiming tenth. Tyler Blank continues to lead the point standings at Double X with Jonathan Cornell in second, Taylor Walton in third, Tyler Elliott in fourth, David Brown in fifth and Cody Baker in sixth.

In the visiting 600cc Micro Sprint main event, it was Ryan Marsch having a strong run to take the win. Marsch began the race in the fourth position and steadily picked off cars on consecutive laps and gained the second position after a lap four caution. Marsch would continue in second, chasing race leader Cole Campbell until a puff of smoke from Campbell’s machine on lap eleven spelled the end of the evening for the Mexico, MO driver. On the restart Marsch, of Russellville, was able to hold off perennial favorite Dean Hathman of Columbia to take the victory. Following Marsch and Hathman under the checkered flag were, Kyle Schlotz of Jefferson City in third, Brian Wood of Jefferson City in fourth and Mitch Workman of Belle rounding out the top five. Heat races were won by Campbell and Hathman.

The Cooper Racing Street Stock division provided some close racing again Sunday night which has become the norm in this division rather than the exception. Sharing the front row were heat race winners John Clancy, Jr of California and Dale Berry of Tuscumbia. At the drop of the green the two ran side by side for the opening laps with Berry leading by a bumper at the stripe. On lap three Clancy was able to edge ahead and begin to open a small lead over Berry and the remainder of the field. Clancy would continue on to record the victory with Berry finishing second ahead of Warrensburg’s John Brooks. Keeth Strange of Eldon finished fourth, Derek Henson of Russellville claimed fifth. Jerry Unger of Jefferson City, Tim Cressley of Tipton, James Keeran of California and Curt Turpin of Jefferson City rounded out the field. The top five in points for the street stock division are Henson, Strange, Clancy, Berry and Turpin.

The fourth division on the card Sunday night was the Double-X Hobby Stock class. Will Register of Sedalia rang up another win but it was not easy as Raymore, MO driver Allen Guthrie was right on the bumper of Register’s #10 machine for the entire event. Guthrie would settle for second with Alma’s Jeff Buford finishing third, AJ Wirts of California finishing fourth and John Shane of Florence coming home in fifth. Completing the field were PJ Grimes, Laura Atkinson and Rudy Wirts respectively. Register is leading the point standings with Rudy Wirts, AJ Wirts, Jeff Buford and Seth Jacobs of Centertown completing the top five.
