We are now less than one month away from race action returning to the hallowed grounds of the ‘Historic Half Mile’ in Sedalia, Missouri for the crowning of the Missouri State Fair Champions. This year’s action takes place on August 19, the final night of the fair; when the big track comes to life once again as the best drivers in the region compete for the honor of forever being recognized as a State Fair Champion, for the 110th year anniversary of the fair.

Last year, Jim Moody of Odessa, Missouri picked up his third crown as champion in the
Modified division while John Anderson took top honors in the MLRA late models. Brian Brown made an exciting late-race pass to become the 360 sprint car champion. This year, the ‘Battle of the Badges’ law enforcement race will be an added event during the night’s competition.

This year’s sprint action has added excitement as Kansas City’s Lakeside Speedway and Sedalia’s Missouri State Fair Speedway will Team Up for the Tompkins Industries Mo-Kan Sprint Car Shootout Presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps/Impact4800.com. The two tracks have joined forces to make an already scheduled big weekend of racing even bigger. The effort includes two nights of action on Friday, August 17 and Saturday, August 18, at Lakeside Speedway with the special points-earning championship finishing up on Sunday in Sedalia.

ASCS Warrior region sprint car drivers include Jonathan Cornell, Tim Crawley, Kyle Bellm, Bryan Grimes, Randy Martin, Cody Baker, Tyler Blank, Miranda Arnold, Mike Trent, 2010 winner Austin Alumbaugh, and Brian Bell. For ASCS Speedway Motors Warrior Region information, call 573-375-0085 or visit them on the web at www.ascsracing.com.

John Anderson is well on his way to another MLRA super late model title and he will likely be on hand to defend his crown along with additional standouts from the MLRA tour. Visit www.mlraracing.com for a complete listing of current drivers. If tradition holds true, regional modified drivers will keep the fans guessing all night long as to whom will come away state fair champion and earn the $750 winner’s share. Likely competitors include Jim Moody, Shad Badder, David Barker, Chad Lyle, and Terry Schultz. Note, mention of driver name in any racing division does not guarantee race appearance.

This year, Race Receivers are required for all classes. Drivers are reminded that there will not be Race Receivers for sale or rent at the track, all drivers will need to bring their own.

Visit the speedway’s official website at www.missouristatefairspeedway.com or search and like the speedway on Facebook. On race night, pit gates will open at 3 p.m. with admission gates opening at 4:30; hot laps take place at 5:30 with racing getting underway at 6 p.m. General Admission – $18, Senior & Military – $15, Kids 6-12 – $8, Five & under free; all pit passes are $25.
