IMCABOONE, Iowa (July 27) – Drivers qualifying for the most prestigious Modified race in the country will have more to show for their accomplishment this September.

All of the 33 drivers who take the green flag in the Saturday, Sept. 8 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals main event at Boone Speedway will earn a minimum of $1,000.

That amount does not include money from qualifying events earlier in the week, any contingency awards, or proceeds from the auction of the first-place engine distributed equally to all other drivers in the starting field.

“This is the biggest Modified event in the country and the guaranteed start money for the feature should reflect that,” noted IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “We had been at or close to $1,000 to start for some years when engine auction money was factored in, but those amounts declined when we got away from the automatic claim of the second, third and fourth-place finishers.”

The winner gets a top check of $2,000, plus $100 for each of as many as 50 sanctioned starts made during the current point season, making for a possible $7,000 payday.

Winners of the Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main events at the 30th annual Super Nationals will also be claimed. All other drivers in those respective races will receive equal shares of auction proceeds.

SportMod and Hobby Stock winners will be claimed regardless of whether they compete with a crate or claim engine. Champions in either division competing with a crate will receive a new crate engine from GM at the track that evening.

Pre-registration for all divisions can be completed by downloading the entry form, posted on both the www.imca.com and www.raceboone.com websites, or by calling the IMCA home office at 319 472-2201.

Pit stall reservations for the Sept. 3-8 Super Nationals can also be handled by calling IMCA. Camping arrangements can be made by calling the Boone Speedway office at 515 987-1220.

Pre-tech runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2 at the track. A tailgate party follows, featuring a live band and complimentary food and beverages. Officials anticipate the party will start shortly after inspection concludes.

All six Super Nationals champions will receive payouts ($2,000 for Modifieds and Late Models, $1,000 for Stock Cars and Northern SportMods, $600 for Hobby Stocks and $250 for Sport Compacts) before leaving Boone Speedway.

Bonuses, paid for each of as many starts, are $50 for the Stock Car champion, $30 for the Late Model champion, $25 for both the Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock champions, and $5 for the Sport Compact champion.

Those checks will be presented during the national awards banquet in Lincoln, Neb., in November.
