(Springfield, MO) 7/28/12 – Jesse Stovall started on the pole and led all thirty five laps to capture the inaugural Casey’s General Store Summer Meltdown, Saturday at Springfield Raceway, in Springfield, MO. He was challenged early by Tony Jackson Jr. and late by John Anderson. The win is Stovall’s first ever in a Dirt Late Model at Springfield Raceway. “It’s awesome,” said Stovall of his weekend sweep. “To have a weekend like this is just unbelievable. It’s a heck of an opportunity for me and we’ve worked our tails off.”
On a lap twenty five restart, Anderson went from fourth to second, where he finished. Matt Johnson had a good car and scored a third place finish. It was one of Johnson’s best ever runs with the Lucas Oil MLRA. Will Vaught and Tony Jackson Jr. were also among the top five.
The race was slowed by only two cautions. Justin Wells had a flat tire on lap fourteen, and Chris Morelock was sideways in turn two on lap twenty-five. Heat race wins went to Mark Dotson, Jesse Stovall, John Anderson, Matt Johnson and Will Vaught. Next, the Lucas Oil MLRA will be in action at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE on August 10th and 11th.
