Springfield, Mo.- Springfield Raceway Owners Doug Bland and Jerry Hoffman today are proud and pleased to announce that the Joplin based Home Pro Improvement Store will be the title sponsor for the running of the Larry Phillips Memorial to be held on Saturday September 15th. This marks the second season that the popular Home Improvement store will be the title sponsor.

This race will feature the 4th and final meeting between the popular MLRA and MARS Super Late Model Series. This announcement comes after another exciting Late Model feature between the 2 Regional Series last Saturday Night.  So far in the previous 3 meetings, there has been 3 different feature winners as Brad Looney of Republic, John Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska and  last weeks winner Jesse Stovall of Galena have gathered the top prize.

Home Pro has a rich history of racing tradition as owner John Tullis and his family have rich racing roots in the Missouri area as John’s father, “Fast” Freddie Tullis Sr. was a many time champion in the 4-state area in Stockcar racing not only at the Joplin area tracks but also at the big 1/2 mile Dirt track in Springfield,Mo. John Tullis himself was a very established racer with father Fred Sr helping him along until his passing.Fred Sr is a member of the Ozarks Area Racers Hall Of Fame and went head to head against Larry Phillips many times at the Fairgrounds in Springfield.

The race which started in 2002 to honor the Springfield racing Legend, was moved to the “Quick-Quarter” of the Springfield Raceway and has become a can’t miss event on both the schedules of Drivers and Fans.

Defending event winners from 2011 include John Anderson (Late Models ), Erik Maggard (USRA Modifieds), Shawn Strong ( USRA B Modifieds ) , Dave Comer (Legends ), Trevor Drake (Midwest Modz ), and Tyler Schoen (Pure Stocks ). Last season this event drew over 130 Race Teams and a Capacity Crowd.

Support Classes will be named later as the Racing Action is schedule to get underway at 6:30 PM. Rain Date is set for Saturday September 22nd.
