Billy is fresh off a pair of top five efforts in the Hawkeye State of Iowa earlier this week. On Monday night, August 6 at the Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, Iowa, Billy ran fourth in heat race action to earn the thirteenth starting spot in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series main event. During the course of the $10,000 to win, 50-lap feature, Billy picked off eight competitors on his way to a strong fifth place performance behind only winner Darrell Lanigan, Clint Smith, Don O’Neal, and Rick Eckert.

At the West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, Iowa on Tuesday evening, August 7, another $10,000 winner’s check was on the line in a ‘Tornado Tuesday’ program. Billy started the 50-lap A-Main from the inside of the sixth row and blasted past eight more cars en route to a sterling third place run. “Mr. Smooth” followed only winner Brian Birkhofer and runner-up Chad Simpson to the checkers at West Liberty.
