World of Outlaws Sprint Car SeriesBryan Hulbert / Bill Wright – Knoxville, Iowa (August 9, 2012) Despite
begin out the racing for nearly four months, defending STP World of
Outlaws Champion Jason Meyers stood in victory lane on night two of
the 52nd Goodyear Knoxville Nationals.

With the crowd screaming in approval, the driver of the Tarlton and
Sons No. 21m let out his own ecstatic yell to begin his post-race
interview.

“Feels awesome, love it. I tell you what you know there is nothing
that makes me happier than making others happy and for Tom Tarlton and
Tommy Tarlton to take a chance on me, giving me this chance and
everybody that’s supporting us I know that Tommy, Guy, and everyone
back home they told me they weren’t come out here this week but I
think maybe they might have to get on a plane and come hang out.”

Starting the feature third, Meyers would chase Mark Dobmeier and Greg
Hodnett into turns one and two. Taking the early advantage, the No.
13v would set sail as the fight to be in the top five heated up with
Sammy Swindell on the hammer. Taking fourth with a high side pass,
Swindell’s run would end on lap twenty-one with a broken drive-line.
Swindell would be scored twenty-third.

Working towards the tail end of the field, the leaders would see clear
track as the caution waved with eighteen laps to run when second
running Greg Hodnett rolled to a stop exiting turn four.

Back underway Danny Lasoski found all roads blocked with the spinning
No. 55 of Ian Madsen. Flipping on the back straight-a-way, the Zemco
No. 1m would be done with a twenty-third place finish. Ian Madsen
would rejoin the field after having to change the right rear tire.

Still at eighteen laps remaining Jason Meyers would waste no time
taking off into the race lead with a low line pass on Dobmeier.

Battling for third, sixth starting Stevie Smith would work past the
MVT No. 11k of Kraig Kinser. Getting the run on Dobmeier for the
runner up spot, Smith’s run would stall as the No. 13v held the
position.

Working past the halfway point of the night’s 25 lap feature event,
Jason Meyers would continue to lead with Dobmeier second and Smith
third. Battling from fifteenth, Tim Schaffer would run fourth with
Kraig Kinser falling back to fifth before the caution waved with ten
laps remaining for the No. 91 of Dusty Zomer.

Battling into the night’s feature via the B-Main, twenty-second
starting Zomer was tenth when his left rear tire exploded entering
turn one, sending Zomer into the wall. Dusty would be scored
twenty-first.

Back underway for the final ten laps, the C.H. Motorsports No.83 of
Tim Shaffer carried a huge run to the bottom line for the pass on
Stevie Smith. Not to be outdone, the No. 19 of Smith would take to the
high line, bolting by Shaffer and Dobmeier for second only to see Tim
Shaffer racing back by for the runner up spot with Kraig Kinser in
tow.

With the back once again in sight, Tim Shaffer was within three car
lengths of Jason Meyer as the field crossed the stripe with two laps
to run. Inching closer and closer, Shaffer would go for the lead only
to be held up by a lapped car allowing Jason Meyers to race to his
third career win at the famed Knoxville Raceway.

Tim Shaffer would take second with Kraig Kinser rounding out the
podium. Stevie Smith would settle for forth with Lance Dewease
climbing from ninth to round out the top five. Mark Dobmeier would end
up sixth with Jason Johnson seventh. Racing in from the B-Main, Tim
Kaeding fought from twenty-first to eighth with Brian Brown and Johnny
Herrera rounding out the top ten.
