Dustin Griffin, Steven DeLonjay, Terry Houston and Tony Dunker all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways during John Wood Community College Truck Driver Training and Sullivan Auctioneers Night at the Races before Mother Nature too her win for the night during the Quincy Hobby Stock Feature Event. The nights racing activities became second fiddle for the night as Quincy Raceways honored PhotoBilly Haffer who tragically lost his life in an auto accident in the early hours of Tuesday August 7. Billy was feted with Missing Man four wide pace lap salutes, Prayers, Memorial Stickers and Driver’s Helmet Collections. Billy will be sorely missed by the racers, fans and Quincy Raceways Officials.

Dustin Griffin made it a point to back up his efforts to support Billy’s family by taking a hard fought feature event win in the UMP Super Late Model main event.Griffinearned the pole position with a win in the dash and set led the opening circuit with Justin Reed taking over the top spot on the second lap and holdingGriffinoff until the fourth circuit. Griffin then set sail and looked to be pulling away from the field through the first half of the event but Jason Perry started to reel in Griffin during the closing laps and even pulled almost even with him with a only a few laps remaining. The yellow flag waved coming to the white flag setting up a green white checkered finish giving Perry one last shot atGriffinbut it was not to be Perry’s night asGriffinpulled away when the green flag resumed the race to take win by almost a full second. Perry settled for the second spot followed by Jim Moon in third, Michael Long in fourth and Justin Reed in fifth. Reed and Jake Griffin were the heat race winners.

Michael Long looked good for the Miller Lite UMP Modified feature event win as he was holding Steven DeLonjay at bay until disaster struck on the twenty second lap when his engine erupted into flames and smoke bringing night to an end. DeLonjay took advantage of Long’s misfortune as on the restart he held Dave Wietholder off by a one second margin as the checkered flag fell at the end of twenty five laps. Shawn Deering scored the third spot followed by James Leffew in fourth and Jared Schlipman in fifth. Long and Schlipman were the heat race winners.

Terry Houston broke Abe Hul’s stranglehold on feature wins in the IMCA Stock Car feature event.Houstontook the lead on the second lap and pulled to a comfortable margin until a lap twelve caution brought the field back together. Huls then took advantage of theDelawarerestart on grabbed the second spot from Michael Larsen and set off in pursuit of Houston but Houston was having none of it and took the checkered flag for his third feature win of the season. Huls settled for second followed by Larsen in third, Darin Weisinger in fourth and Jerry Jansen in fifth. Weisinger took the heat race win.

Tony Dunker came from his fourth row starting spot to claim the lead in the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA SportMod main event after battling with Bobby Anders on the eighth lap. Dunker then held Anders off until the checkered flag fell with Anders in second, Brad Holtmeyer in third, Joe Blivens in fourth and Tanner Klingele in fifth. Dunker also scored the heat race win.

Mother Nature got everyone’s attention on lap six ot the Quincy Hobby Stock main event as she started a downpour of some much needed rain. Klingele was leading as the race was yellow flagged. The final nine laps will be ran as the first event on the racing card on Sunday August 19. The IMCA Sport Compact main event was lined up and ready to race as well when the liquid began to fall on the Hobby Stock feature. That race will also be ran on Sunday August 19 before the rest of the regular scheduled events that day.

Sunday August 19 will be Kohl Wholsale Night at the races featuring all the great racing action in all six divisions at Quincy Raceways along with completing the Quincy Hobby Stock feature and the IMCA Sport Compact feature event delayed for this past Sunday night. The Pit Gates open at 4:30, Grandstands at 5, Driver’s Registration ends at 5:30, Hot Laps at 5:45 and racing action at 6:30pm.
