PEORIA SPEEDWAY SETS “THURSDAY THUNDER” DATES FOR AUGUST 16th & 30th

Peoria SpeedwayUMP Modified doubleheader August 16; Bud LM Series August 30

(Peoria, IL) Peoria Speedway recently added 2 additional dates to its’ 2012 racing schedule, with “Thursday Night Thunder” races slated for August 16 and 30.

On Thursday, August 16, fans will get to see 2 UMP Modified features as the feature race which was postponed during the MOWA Sprint Car race on July 26 will be made up. A completely new UMP racing program will also be run this Thursday, featuring UMP Modifieds, Limited Late Models, UMP Street Stocks, Illinois Lightning Sprints and UMP Hornets. Pit gates open at 4:30, with grandstands opening at 5 and hot laps at 6.

The track also is pleased to announce that Round 8 of the “Budweiser UMP Super Late Model Series” will be contested on Thursday, August 30. Round 7 of the Bud Series was rained out on August 4, and will be held this Saturday, August 18. The race will be the first of 3 big nights of Late Model action on Labor Day weekend,, precluding the “Prairie Dirt Classic” doubleheader at Fairbury Labor Day weekend. The Bud Series will also pay $2,000 to-win, and one UMP Late Model driver could win $17,000 if they were to sweep all 3 races. UMP Modifieds, Limited Late Models, and UMP Hornets will join the Bud Series on August 30.

In other scheduling news, “Bollinger Racing Night”, featuring prize giveaways all night, has been re-scheduled for Saturday, August 25. August 25 will be a complete UMP racing program, featuring UMP Modifieds, Limited Late Models, UMP Street Stocks, Illinois Lightning Sprints and UMP Hornets.

The track will site idle on “World 100” weekend , but will roar back to life with the first of 2 “Illinois State Championsip” races., featuring “Twin 50’s” for the UMP Modifieds. The “Bud UMP Super Late Model Series” will conclude on Saturday, September 22 with the running of the 58th annual “Jon Hamilton Memorial Illinois State Championship” for UMP Late Models, featuring a 100 lap feature paying $5,000 to-win. The season will conclude at the track with the 2nd Annual “Al Archdale, Jr. Mini-Sprint Nationals” on September 29.
