(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Birkhofer Racing trekked to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on August 10-11 for the 30th edition of the ‘North/South 100.’ On Friday night during the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying session, Brian Birkhofer posted the fifteenth fastest lap in Group A, which locked him into a third row starting spot for one of the six heat races on Saturday.
In front of a standing room only crowd, Brian ran fifth in his loaded heat race, but later moved up to second in his B-Main to earn a coveted transfer position into the $50,000 to win feature event. During the course of the 100-lap ‘North/South 100,’ which featured minimal passing, Brian pulled off the racing surface early and wound up twenty-fifth in the final rundown.
