DIRTcarBatesville, Arkansas (8/28/12) – Despite recent struggles it was a solid weekend for Billy Moyer Jr. as he claimed back-to-back top ten finishes in a pair of $5,000-to-win, MARS/UMP Challenge events in Kentucky and Missouri in his #21jr Henderson Motorsports/Car City/Imperial Motors/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model.

On Friday night the action opened at Paducah International Raceway (Paducah, Kentucky). Thirty Super Late Models entered the event, and after qualifying third fastest in his group in time trials Billy started third in his heat race before slipping to a fourth place finish to lock into the fifteenth starting spot for the feature. In the main event he advanced seven spots on his way to an eighth place finish.

Saturday evening found the team trying to dodge rain at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Missouri). Ultimately Mother Nature would cooperate, and the event was held with thirty-six Super Late Models in the pit area. Moyer Jr. finished third in the first heat race, which positioned him starting ninth on the grid for the feature. In the main event he worked his way through the pack before staging a late-race, three wide battle for the lead with Brian Shirley and Billy Moyer. Moyer Jr. would go on to finish second behind his Dad, Billy Moyer. Full results from both events are available at www.MARSRacingSeries.com.

“The past month or so has been a rough time for us, and we’ve really been struggling. It felt good to get things back on track this weekend, and on Saturday night at Pevely that was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in a race. It was just awesome. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into the upcoming events,” comment Moyer Jr.

The Labor Day weekend has an ultra-busy schedule on tap for Billy and Jr. Motorsports and will begin on Friday and Saturday night at Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) with the 23rd Annual Prairie Dirt Classic. On Friday night a $5,000-to-win, 40 lap event will be held, and then on Saturday evening a $10,000-to-win, 60 lap race is on tap. From Fairbury the team will travel to the famed, high-banks of Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Sunday evening for the 5th Annual WIX Filters Baltes Classic. The event, which is sanctioned by the Sunoco American Late Model Series, serves as a tune-up event for the following weekend’s 42nd Annual World 100.
