DuQuoin State Fair(TOLEDO, Ohio) – The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, ARCA’s top division, did not race Monday after consistent Labor Day weekend rain at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds left the facility unsuitable for competition.

The race has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 14, five days before the season finale at Kansas Speedway. Before those two events, the series will contest race No. 18 of 2012 at Salem Speedway next Saturday, September 15.

The last ARCA Racing Series event to be postponed to another weekend for weather was in 2003. A June race at Pocono Raceway was pushed back more than a month after inclement weather in Pennsylvania. Casey Mears then won both legs of the late July doubleheader, one on Friday and one on Saturday.

Similarly, the ARCA Racing Series was rained out at Michigan’s Berlin Raceway in late August 2001. The series revisited the track four weeks later. Hometown driver Tim Steele led all 200 laps to beat Chad Blount, who had been fastest in the lone August practice at the track.

Over this Labor Day weekend, though, other ARCA properties outside the path of the weather system took to the track, with several champions crowned along the way.

Short Track Competition Coming to Close: Saturday, four champions were crowned at Flat Rock Speedway, one of ARCA’s two short track properties. Paul Pelletier won the Moran Chevrolet Late Model title and Jeremy Miller took top honors in the Parts Galore Figure 8 division. In DTS Drive Train Street Stock competition, Frank Jiovani won the A Main title and Don Roberts won the B Main title.

Those four champions joined Ray McClure, who recently clinched the 4-Cylinder championship at Flat Rock, as well as four champions from Toledo Speedway, who were crowned last week: Perry Marlow, 4-Cylinder; Dennis Whisman, Parts Galore Figure 8; Ron Allen, ACME Dismantling Sportsman; and Kyle Huston, R&M Recycling Street Stock.

Dakota Carlson recently won the ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup Series for outlaw late models; events in the series are contested at both of ARCA’s short track properties.

Jackson Snaps Mansfield’s Truck Streak: Danny Jackson earned his fourth ARCA Truck Series win of the season at Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio by holding off Shawn Szep on Friday. Levi Mansfield, currently second in points to Jackson, had hoped to drive to his fourth consecutive win in the series, but finished third. Three more races are on the schedule this season.

VanDoorn Quick Before Super Series Washout: ARCA CRA Super Series points leader Johnny VanDoorn was fastest in practice at Winchester Speedway, but rain in Indiana washed out qualifying and Monday’s race. The race has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 23. The series will next compete at ARCA’s Flat Rock Speedway this Saturday, September 8. Five races remain on the series’ schedule.

Campbell Sweeps in Michigan: Past ARCA Racing Series pole winner Brian Campbell swept the action in another CRA division Saturday, leading practice, winning the fastest qualifier award, and capturing victory in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Owosso Speedway in Michigan.

The ARCA Racing Series will travel to the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers Fall Classic presented by Federated Car Care at Indiana’s Salem Speedway on Saturday, September 15.

Practice for the year’s second race at Salem will take place over two sessions, from 12:30-1:15 p.m. and 1:45-2:30 p.m. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell is scheduled for 4 p.m., and a driver autograph session will be open to all fans from 4:45-5:15 p.m. The 200-lap, 111-mile race will start at 7:15 p.m.

ARCARacing.com will feature live timing and scoring coverage throughout the day, and ARCA Racing Network hosts Charlie Krall and Tim Clagg will deliver a live audio call for the race on the site.

2012 is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards’ 60th Anniversary Season, featuring 20 races at 18 tracks. The complete 2012 event schedule is available at ARCARacing.com.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 26 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.375 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season. This year, the series visited Alabama’s Mobile International Speedway and Minnesota’s Elko Speedway for the first time.

Founded by John and Mildred Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in three professional touring series and local weekly events.
