(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Scott James and the Riggs Motorsports team traveled to the Mountaineer State of West Virginia from August 31-September 2 for a trio of high-profile Dirt Late Model events. The ‘Black Diamond 125’ kicked things off at the Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia. On Friday night in the $8,000 to win UFO Race Championship program, Scott ran second in his heat race from the tail, but was involved in an early incident in the 50-lap main event. A bent left front tie-rod caused him to later retire from the race in the eighteenth position. Saturday’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series portion of the ‘Black Diamond 125’ was unfortunately washed out by Mother Nature.
The Labor Day holiday weekend wrapped up on Sunday at the I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, West Virginia. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the annual running of the ‘Hillbilly Hundred’ and a hefty $25,000 top prize was on the line. Scott was unable to transfer into the 100-lapper after finishing ninth in his loaded heat race and eighth in his B-Main. Full results from the action-packed weekend can be viewed online at www.dirtondirt.com.
The Bright, Indiana driver will return to Dirt Late Model competition on September 7-8 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The 42nd Annual ‘World 100’ will take place this Friday and Saturday at the “Big E” and a $45,000 payday is up for grabs. Jason Riggs, on the other hand, plans to travel to the Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee this Saturday, September 8. A day/night doubleheader is scheduled at the Volunteer State oval and a pair of $1,000 features will be held.
