USMTS - United States Modified Touring SeriesOGILVIE, Minn. (Sept. 5) – Race fans have three big nights to witness the nation’s elite open-wheel dirt Modified drivers this weekend as the United States Modified Touring Series invades the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn., for a doubleheader this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8, before invading the Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minn., on Sunday, Sept. 3.

While it may be three nights of racing, fans will get to see four main events, and drivers will not only be battling for up to $14,000 to win over about a 50-hour period but will also be jockeying for spots in the final rankings of the USMTS National Championship Series.

Cut short by rain on Aug. 15, the Hunt for the USMTS Casey Cup make-up feature at Ogilvie will be completed on Friday prior to the running of the first night of the ‘Harvest Cup’ and USMTS National Finals.

Make-Up “A” Main Starting Line-up: Row 1 – Johnny Scott, Jason Miller; Row 2 – Stormy Scott, Jeremy Payne; Row 3 – Ryan Gustin, Kelly Shryock; Row 4 – Kelly Estey, Jason Hughes; Row 5 – Zack VanderBeek, Doug Hillson; Row 6 – Jason Cummins, Jon Tesch; Row 7 – Don Eischens, Dereck Ramirez; Row 8 – Joey Jensen, Rodney Sanders; Row 9 – Adam Hensel, Eric Pember; Row 10 – Bryan Rowland, Tony Bahr; Row 11 – Corey Dripps, Kenny Wallace; Row 12 – Scot Danzeisen, Ryan Ruter; Row 13 – Jason Voigt, Mark Noble; Row 14 – Al Hejna, Austin Siebert.

Saturday will be another complete program featuring the final race of the USMTS National Championship Series campaign and the crowning of Ryan Gustin, who has locked up his second straight title and the $30,000 payoff that it accompanies.

Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks will also compete both nights of the Harvest Cup presented by Wagamon Bros. Racing Engines. Races start at 6:30 p.m. both nights.

The Ogilvie Raceway is a high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval located 2 miles east of Ogilvie on the south side of Hwy. 23. For more information call 763-267-4572 or check out www.ogilvieraceway.com online.

Then on Sunday, the USMTS Modifieds make their maiden voyage to the Granite City Speedway. The show was originally scheduled to be a qualifying event for the USMTS Casey’s Cup Series but was rained out June 14 and is now the final ‘Hunt’ race before the 14th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree, Sept. 20-22.

The track got a new owner during the off-season and the new leadership has made many improvements to the former Golden Spike Speedway, including remodeled VIP suites and a new restaurant area for fans.

Fans will notice immediate improvements to the facility including a completely new racing surface, newly remodeled restaurant building, renovated Wild Country press building plus general clean up, beautification and modernization to the overall facility.

Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mod Fours and Hornets will also be on the racing card. Sponsored by Lubrication Technologies, pit and grandstand gates will open at 2 p.m., hot laps will be held at 4 and racing will begin at 5 p.m.

The Granite City Speedway is a 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval located 2.5 miles north of SR 23 on US 10, then 2 miles east on Golden Spike Rd. (CR 3). For more information, call 715-497-8916 or check out www.gcspeedway.com online.
